January 5, 2021 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) is now taking applications for funding of Solid Waste Projects for FY 2021. DETCOG anticipates awarding grants totaling $36,305.62.
January 3, 2021 - The deadline for receipt of Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Solid Waste Grant applications is 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021. DETCOG anticipates awarding grants totaling $36,305.62 for FY 2021.
Each application will be judged by the DETCOG Regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) in accordance with the SWAC Project Review and Scoring Guidelines. This year there can be up to 2 grants at a maximum of $18,152.00 each.

August 21, 2020 - Members of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments board of directors were given an orientation on DETCOG and its functions during the August 2020 board meeting.
Executive Director Lonnie Hunt led members of the board through the online orientation, which explained the basics of DETCOG’s responsibilities and membership in the Deep East Texas region. Other subjects discussed in the orientation were how officer roles are determined and promoted over time, the major programs DETCOG offers to the area and how DETCOG serves Deep East Texas.
July 24, 2020 - Congressman Brian Babin was a special guest during the Deep East Texas Council of Government’s July board of directors meeting Thursday July 23. Babin represents the 36th District of Texas which includes the counties of Jasper, Newton, Polk and Tyler in Deep East Texas.
Babin thanked the DETCOG board members for the leadership they provide in their communities and reflected on several topics including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, funding amidst the pandemic, the workforce and jobs during these times and the possibility of schools reopening.

January 31, 2020 - The Deep East Texas Council of Governments’ Board of Directors will hold their regular monthly Board of Directors meeting Friday, February 27, 2020 at Larry Bruce Gardens which is located at 3198 County Road 4600 outside Kennard in Houston County. The Board meeting will be held immediately following lunch, which will be served at noon.
