Deep East Texas Legislators to be Honored in Austin

Ernest Bailes Named Legislator of the Year

December 28, 2022 - Deep East Texas will be in the spotlight in Austin on the eve of the 88th Session of the Texas Legislature. The 2023 Deep East Texas Legislative Reception will be held Monday, January 9th from 5:30 to 7 pm in the Trademark Room of the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown. The Texas Legislature opens the following day at noon.

DETCOG Board to Hold November Meeting in Livingston

November 18, 2022 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Board of Directors will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Polk County Commerce Center at 1017 US-59 Loop N in Livingston, Texas. A Luncheon will be served at noon, and the Board meeting will be held immediately following lunch.

Welcoming members and guests to Polk County will be Polk County Judge Sydney Murphy, Livingston Mayor Judy B. Cochran, and Polk County Commissioners Guylene Robertson, Ronnie Vincent, Milton Purvis, and Tommy Overstreet.

DETCOG Board to Hold October Meeting in Newton

October 7, 2022 - Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) Board of Directors will hold their regular monthly meeting Thursday, October 27, 2022, at Howard Civic Center at 213 East Court Street in Newton, Texas. A Luncheon will be served at noon, and the Board meeting will be held immediately following lunch.

Welcoming members and guests to Newton County will be Newton County Judge Kenneth Weeks, Newton Mayor Mark Bean, and Newton County Commissioners Danny Bentsen, Phillip White, Gary Fomby and Wesley Thompson.

DETCOG to Meet in San Jacinto County; March 24th Agenda

March 21, 2022 - The Board of Directors of the Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) will meet Thursday, March 24th at the San Jacinto County Shelter located at 155 Live Oak in Coldspring, Texas. A luncheon begins at 12 noon with the business meeting to follow.

The Board will consider authorizing a Request for Proposals from organizations interested in providing senior citizen nutrition services in each of the 11 DETCOG counties. This includes congregate meals at local senior centers, home delivered meals, and other services.
