Shelby County Included in Significant Weather Advisory

November 30, 2019 - Significant weather advisory for southeastern DeSoto west central Natchitoches and northern Sabine parishes southeastern Shelby and Northern Central Sabine counties until 3pm CST
 
At 2:14pm CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 8 miles east of Patroon, or 23 miles southeast of Center, moving northeast at 50 mph. 

Penny size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with this storm. 

NWS Warns of Hail, Strong Wind; Severe Thunderstorm Warning Now Added (Update)

October 3, 2019 - (Update: 4:49pm) - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Northeastern Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Southwestern Shelby County in eastern Texas, Northwestern San Augustine County in eastern Texas until 5:30pm CDT.

At 4:42 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northeast of Martinsville, or 10 miles southwest of Center, moving west southwest at 20 mph.

Hazard: 60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.

Significant Weather Advisory for Southwestern Shelby County

June 27, 2019 - Significant weather advisory for Southwestern Shelby County until 4:30pm

At 3:43pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 9 miles southwest of Center, moving north at 10 mph. Pea size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm. Locations impacted include Jericho, Stockman and Arcadia.

Precautionary/Preparedness Actions
Heavy rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

Significant Weather Advisory for Shelby County

June 19, 2019 - Significant weather advisory for De Soto and Northwestern Red River Parishes...Southeastern Panola...Northeastern Nacogdoches and Shelby Counties until 8am CDT.

At 7:14am CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Stonewall to near Tenaha to near Garrison. Movement was east southeast at 35 mph.

Strong winds between 40 and 50 mph will be possible with these storms.

Tornado Watch in Effect until 2am

May 19, 2019 - Tornado watch 189 remains valid until 2am CDT Sunday for the following areas in Louisiana this watch includes 15 parishes in north central Louisiana: Caldwell, Grant, Jackson, La Salle, Lincoln, Ouachita, Union, Winn. 

In northwest Louisiana: Bienville, Claiborne, De Soto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, Webster in Texas this watch includes 6 counties.

In northeast Texas: Angelina, Nacogdoches, Panola, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby.

Portions of Shelby County Included in Severe Thunderstorm Warning (Updated 12:31am)

May 18, 2019 - Severe Thunderstorm Warning for De Soto Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Southwestern Caddo Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Northwestern Sabine Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Eastern Panola County in northeastern Texas, Shelby County in eastern Texas, Northern San Augustine County in eastern Texas until 1:15am CDT.

At 11:36pm CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Deberry to 12 miles east of Carthage to near Joaquin to 7 miles west of Neuville to 6 miles north of Lufkin, moving east at 35 mph.

Shelby County Included in Tornado Watch

May 8, 2019 - The National Weather Service is reporting Shelby County and surrounding areas are currently under a tornado watch until 11pm.

Texas counties included are: Angelina, Bowie, Brazos, Burleson, Cass, Cherokee, Gregg,    Grimes, Harrison, Houston, Jasper, Madison, Marion, Montgomery, Nacogdoches, Newton, Panola, Polk, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Washington

Severe Thunderstorm Warning Includes Portions of Shelby County (Updated)

May 2, 2019 - (Update 10:22pm): Significant Weather Advisory for Western De Soto and Southwestern Caddo Parishes, Northeastern Panola and Northeastern Shelby Counties until 11pm CDT.

At 10:04pm CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Joaquin to near Beckville. Movement was northeast at 45 mph.

Half inch hail and winds in excess of 40 mph will be possible with these storms.
