June 25, 2020 - Texas Transportation Commissioners on Thursday met in Austin and approved more than $601.5 million in new construction and highway improvement projects statewide, including more than $5.7 million for the Lufkin District.
Four new construction projects were approved in Houston, Nacogdoches, Sabine and San Jacinto counties and include:

May 22, 2020 - As COVID-19 orders are relaxed in many parts of the state and more Texans return to the roads, TxDOT’s “Plan While You Can” campaign is reminding drivers to make a sober ride part of their Memorial Day weekend plans.
June 18, 2019 - The signal lights will remain in flashing mode for 30 days beginning June 17, as TxDOT conducts a traffic study of whether or not the signals are still needed. At the request of the city, TxDOT are conducting a traffic study to determine whether the lights on the Center downtown square are still needed. This is part of the city’s beautification project on the square. At the end of 30 days, TxDOT traffic engineers will determine whether the signals are still warranted or if stop signs will work more efficiently for downtown traffic needs.
May 11, 2017 - LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission in April approved more than $285 million in new construction projects for the state, with two located in the Lufkin District that totaled $1 million.
Shelby County was also approved for off-system bridge replacements on CR 4855 at Byfield Creek and on CR 4760 at the tributary of the Attoyac Bayou. Stateline Construction will serve as contractor for the $432,714 project.

LUFKIN – As spring approaches, the Lufkin District is in full swing with new and ongoing construction and maintenance projects.
“Our construction project at Livingston State Park in Polk County is coming to a close and the camping areas have been reopened just in time for Spring Break,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer for the Lufkin District. “I know the public is glad to hear that the area is open again for recreation and camping.”
LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission approved in February $460,000 in Federal and state grant funds for the San Augustine County Airport. The funds will be used for planned airport improvements, including constructing pavement and lighting improvements.
The project costs are funded through San Augustine County and TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system. A project bid is expected to be approved before summer.
March 8, 2017 - LUFKIN – The Texas Transportation Commission approved in February more than $350.6 million in construction projects and $36.8 million in maintenance projects, with several new projects located in the Lufkin District.

AUSTIN — As celebrations are finalized to mark the last days of summer, the Texas Department of Transportation urges drivers to make a plan leading up to the Labor Day holiday — a plan for a safe and sober ride home.
April 1, 2016 LUFKIN – Texas Department of Transportation commissioners on Thursday approved 51 new construction projects for the state that total more than $161.7 million, with two projects located in the Lufkin District.
New construction projects that total more than $6.4 million were approved for Angelina and Shelby counties. The projects are designed to TxDOT safety standards and once completed will provide better maneuverability.
January 15, 2016 - LUFKIN – A $20.4 million construction project in Shelby County is marking its half-way point as traffic is shifted onto the newly constructed US 84 eastbound bridge over the Sabine River at the Louisiana State Line.
