April 24, 2015 - LUFKIN – TxDOT officials have announced a ramp closure in Nacogdoches County and a traffic detour is planned April 27-29.
The US 59 South entrance ramp from US 259 South will be closed beginning Monday during the daytime hours. Officials plan to reroute traffic to FM 343 through Wednesday or until work is complete, weather permitting.
April 23, 2015 - Some local high school students went the extra mile to support safe driving and earned their schools some Project Celebration money while doing it.
April 17, 2015 - The TxDOT Lufkin District is headed into the last part of April with several projects that are planned to prepare many roads in the nine-county district for safer travel.
Here is a look at work planned in the Lufkin District during the week of April 20 as well as recent progress of ongoing construction projects. Schedules are subject to change due to weather or equipment related issues.
April 2, 2015 - With more people dying senselessly on Texas roads due to distracted driving, the Texas Department of Transportation kicks off its annual “Talk, Text, Crash” campaign to urge drivers to give their full attention to the road. Tx DOT’s campaign coincides with National Distracted Driving Awareness Month in April.
March 10, 2015 - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), the City of San Augustine, the County of San Augustine, the Chamber of Commerce and Main Street celebrated a groundbreaking Tuesday along with many guests that marked the beginning of an intersection construction project at SH 21/US 96.
Drewery Construction will serve as contractor for the project which is planned to improve mobility and safety at the original traffic circle. Construction plans include:
March 5, 2015 - Work is progressing into the second year of the $20.4 million U.S. 84 bridge construction project that connects Joaquin and Logansport, Louisiana. The project began in January, 2014 with a 30-month time frame for completion.
James Construction Group, contractor for the project, is currently setting beams and the pavement structure for the eastbound lanes is under construction. Work is also underway on the intersection of LA5, which is also included in the project across the state line in Logansport.
February 23, 2015 - LUFKIN – TxDOT is about to begin an exciting project in San Augustine that will change the way motorists maneuver through the historic town.
Engineers, contractors and other professionals gathered last week at the Nacogdoches TxDOT offices to discuss pre-construction plans for the reconfiguration of the circle intersection at U.S. 96 and State Highway 21.
