SCOM Seeking Donations for Meals on Wheels

September 11, 2015 - Sherry Harding and Josh White with Shelby County Outreach Ministries are hitting the street to raise funds for the meals on wheels program.

"We average a thousand [meals] a month that's not being paid and last month alone was over 1,200 that wasn't paid, and the majority of those are shut-ins," said Harding.

Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library New Hours

September 8, 2015 - Starting Friday, September 11th and Saturday, September 12th, library hours for the Fannie Brown Booth Library will change for Fridays and Saturdays. New hours will be: Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Library hours for Tuesday through Thursday will still be 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Center and Joaquin Firemen Fill the Boot for MDA, Raise Over $5,000

September 2, 2015 - Shelby County firemen took to the streets on Saturday morning, August 29th to fill the boot to fight muscle disease. Firemen have been supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for 60 years strong.

September 2, 2015 - VFW Post 8904 Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary members gathered at the Shelby County Veterans Memorial on Monday, August 31, 2015 to honor Veterans of the Iraq War with Larry Hume, Quartermaster, leading the ceremony.

Rotary Club Donates to RSF, Learns About Advances in Heart Catheterization

September 2, 2015 - Center Rotary Club presented a check to the Catherine Pinkston Roughrider Scholarship Foundation (RSF) during the September 1st Rotary Club meeting. Accepting the $33,000 plus check was Jerry Pinkston, RSF board president.

Delta Gamma Makes Donation to Cell Phone For Soldiers

September 1, 2015 - Delta Gamma chapter recently donated over 200 used cell phones to the Cell Phones for Soldiers project. This was one of their projects for the year and were delighted to donate to this worthy cause.
