General Land Office, City of San Antonio, Alamo Trust Reach Agreement

August 3, 2023  - Today, the General Land Office (GLO), the City of San Antonio (City), and Alamo Trust, Inc. (ATI) are delighted to announce the successful mediation and agreement with the owner of Moses Rose’s Hideout to purchase the building located at 516 E. Houston St. This mutual agreement ends the eminent domain litigation and is a landmark step towards the creation of the future Alamo Visitor Center and Museum.

Most of us live lives that are incredibly blessed. We have the strength to get up each day and the freedom to go out to meet the world. We can spend time with friends and family. We can attend our churches to worship. We can experience a full and active life. But nursing home residents and shut-ins often live lives that are isolated from the world, unsupported by friends and family, lonely and alone.

Texas A&M Forest Service Fire Danger Current Situation

Current Situation for Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 8:30am
Wildland Fire Preparedness Level: Level 3

August 2, 2023 - Yesterday, Texas A&M Forest Service responded to 7 new requests for assistance on wildfires that burned 246.8 acres across the state.

When combined with increased fire weather, dry to extremely dry fuel will support high levels of wildfire activity across much of the state this week. There is also potential for large wildfires to occur Tuesday through Thursday.

What is life? That's a pretty serious question for this late summer Wednesday. But it's an eternal question that's crossed everyone's mind from time to time. What is the meaning of life? 

Is life just the accumulation of time? I did some math and figured out I've lived 24,090 days, 578,160 hours, 34,689,600 minutes. I had to lie down after that! That's something I've spent about 200,000 hours doing, by the way.

Texas A&M Forest Service Warns of Fire Danger as Hot, Dry Conditions Persist

August 1, 2023 - Texas A&M Forest Service warns of increased wildfire danger, as high temperatures and dry conditions continue to impact the state.

“Since mid-July, wildfire activity has increased substantially across Texas due to expanding drought conditions,” said Wes Moorehead, Texas A&M Forest Service Fire Chief. “Over the past two weeks, state and local firefighters have responded to 280 wildfires that burned almost 10,000 acres.”
