Governor Abbott Announces First Texas Energy Fund Loan To 122 MW Natural Gas Facility

June 27, 2025 - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that the first Texas Energy Fund (TEF) loan agreement will fund a 122 megawatt (MW) natural gas power plant in Texas. With the TEF executed by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC), the Rock Island Generation Project will provide new reliable, dispatchable power generation near one of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region’s largest electricity demand centers.

Overview of the 89th Regular Texas Legislative Session

June 26, 2025 - Texas legislators allocated approximately $630 million in new funding, above current base funding, for Texas A&M Forest Service over the next two fiscal years.

The 89th Texas Legislative Session ended June 2, 2025, and the governor signed the budget on June 22.

The budget funds more volunteer fire department grants, the purchase and operation of wildfire suppression aircraft, motor vehicle purchases and more.

June 26, 2025 - Governor Greg Abbott today announced that a Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) grant of $5.3 million has been extended to MGC Pure Chemicals America, Inc. (MPCA) for an expansion of their production facility in Killeen, which is expected to create more than $150 million in capital investment.
