Seven Heat Safety Tips to Protect You From Texas Summer Heat

June 20, 2025 - June in Texas means the arrival of scorching temperatures and the risk of heat-related illness, so Texas State Parks offers seven tips to help parkgoers beat the heat and safely enjoy the beauty that Texas has to offer.

Last year, 44 state parks reported a total of 192 heat-related illnesses, with 10 of those incidents involving pets. Texas recorded 36 more heat-related illnesses last year than in 2023.

Texans can reduce heat-related incidents this year by following these seven pieces of sun-safety advice:

East Lamar PWS Rescinds Boil Water Notice

June 19, 2025 - On June 16, 2025, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the East Lamar public water system, 2100006, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

SCOM to Close for Juneteenth

June 18, 2025 - Shelby County Outreach Ministries will be closed on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in observance of Juneteenth.

All programs and services will resume normal operations on Friday, June 20, 2025.
