June 7, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, June 7.

It's "Hump Day" for Vacation Bible School at my church. We're halfway through the journey. Anyone who has ever worked in a VBS knows that it's a busy time. So, this week I'm letting the Bible speak for itself. No "two-cents" from me. Maybe that's something we should do more often. Hope you're blessed and inspired this morning by five more of my favorite scriptures. Let the Word of God speak!

Vacation Bible School got off to a great start yesterday at First Baptist Center, with 130 kids and lots of excitement, music, fun, and learning. Today's Daily Devotion continues our series featuring some of my favorite Bible verses. Maybe some of them are among your favorites. Let the Word of God speak.

June 5, 2023 - I wish that you could have met this giant of a man, a fellow worker at Allstate Insurance Company in Houston, Texas.  In the mid 1960s, I was working as an insurance underwriter for Allstate.  In case you are not familiar with the term “underwriter”, let me explain.  Every insurance company has these “risk evaluators” who examine applications for insurance submitted by their agents.  They can approve or reject applications for coverage.  In so doing, they often make people angry.

Property Sale Prompts Fairfield Lake State Park Closure

June 5, 2023 — Fairfield Lake State Park will close to the public beginning 10 p.m. June 4. 

“Texas Parks and Wildlife Commissioners continue to pursue options for saving Fairfield Lake State Park, including through condemnation,” said Commission Chairman Arch “Beaver” Aplin III. “But in the meantime, department staff must focus on decommissioning the property before our lease ends June 13.”
