Emergency Preparation Key as 2023 Hurricane Season Approaches

May 23, 2023 - The 2023 Hurricane Season officially begins June 1, and the Texas Department of State Health Services urges all Texans to prepare now before any Gulf storm threatens our state. The first step is to make a plan.

“Hurricane season is fast approaching, so now is a great time to make sure that your family has an up-to-date plan,” said DSHS Commissioner Jennifer Shuford, MD, MPH. “Every family has its own unique needs that change over time. That is why it is important that every family or household make their own severe weather plan and know it well.”  

Pct. 3 Commissioner Seeks Bids on Truck Tractor

April 26, 2023 - Commissioner Pct. 3 Stevie Smith to go out for sealed bids on 2012 through 2022 Truck Tractor tandem-axle 400 plus HP in good condition used or new.

Sealed bids can be turned into Jenney Chessher at the Shelby County Judges Office at 200 San Augustine Street 2nd floor. Phone number 936-598-6136

Please make sure you have your contact information on the sealed envelope.       

Sealed bids must be in by Tuesday, May 23rd no later than 3pm.

Sealed bids will be opened in Commissioners Court May 24th.

On this day, about 90 years ago, an infamous event happened about 90 miles from Center, Texas. A posse of lawmen laid a trap and ambushed a car. They poured 130 rounds of ammunition into that car, and when the firing finally stopped, 25-year-old Clyde Barrow and 23-year-old Bonnie Parker lay dead.
