May 12, 2023 - The first few bills have made it to the Governor’s desk for his signature, which signals the end of session is fast approaching. Of the over 8,000 bills filed this session, just over 100 bills and joint resolutions have been sent to the governor and four have been signed into law.

1. House Bill 4 passes the Senate

National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

May 9, 2023 - Saturday, May 13th marks the 31st anniversary of one of America’s great days of giving – the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food drive.

Letter carriers walk through the community every day, often coming face to face with a sad reality for too many, hunger.

So, each year on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect non-perishable food donations from our customers.

These donations go directly to local food pantries to provide food to people in Center who need our help.

We focus today on a man who had to wait 70 long years for a job. Are you good at waiting? I'm not. They say that patience is a virtue, but it's not one of my strengths. This man, let's say his name is Charles, was four years old when his mom got her job, let's say it was queen. And last weekend this man finally got to wear the crown, after 70 years of waiting.

May 5, 2023 - The Attorney General of Alabama, who was denied the Democratic nomination for Governor, was furious.  He denounced the people around his opponent as “a bunch of sleazebags.  You can see that in a New York minute”.

“If there was any hint of impropriety”, a Dallas police official, eschewing the subjective, was quoted as saying 1980, “They’d be on us in a New York minute”.

In a 1983 television movie, “A Killer in the Family”, someone says of the brutish father played by Robert Mitchum, “He’d kill you in a new York minute”.
