“My Mother’s Clothes-line” By Neal Murphy

March 1, 2022 - Anyone who grew up in the 1940s and 1950s like me will probably remember the clothes-lines that dotted most every back yard in our small town of San Augustine, Texas. I still recall the one that my parents had, which was strung between two posts for about thirty feet. Actually, mother's line consisted of two thirty-feet wires so as to double the amount of wet clothes that could be dried at the same time.

SCOM Bid Deadline Imminent

TPWD - National Invasive Species Awareness Week - Feb. 28 – Mar. 4

February 28, 2022 – During National Invasive Species Awareness Week (NISAW), Feb. 28 – March 4 this year, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) asks Texans to help slow the spread of invasive species affecting our state’s natural resources and economy. The Office of the Governor has recognized NISAW with an official proclamation.

DU National Scholarship Program Accepting Application Through March 1

February 24, 2022 - In 2021, Ducks Unlimited (DU) awarded 61 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are members of DU. The scholarship program is open to all senior student members; however, it is targeted to volunteers who have shown an exceptional level of commitment to wetlands conservation through participation in their DU Varsity (high school) club/chapter and/or local DU community chapter. In addition, students must maintain a 2.8 or higher cumulative high school GPA to apply.
