October 15, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, October 15.

Growing up, I read a lot of science fiction - Jules Verne, H. G. Wells, Ray Bradbury. I was fascinated by the concept of time travel, of traveling to the past, or the future, in a time machine. Maybe, in our lifetime, we'll see that fiction become fact. We've witnessed enough technological miracles in the last 50 years to make us believe that anything is possible.

October 10, 2024 - Church is not a popular place for many today.  Many churches are declining; some are actually dying and closing their doors.  Some churches have even combined.  Along with the decline of church has come the decline in preaching and teaching the Bible.  I think it is important for us to consider both church and the vital role of preaching, the centrality of the sermon in the worship experience.

October 10, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, October 10.

On this day, 244 years ago, a hurricane struck the Caribbean island of Barbados. The storm had no name - we didn't start naming them until the 1950's. And we don't know all the details - careful records weren't kept until the 1850's. But we know this. By the time it played out on the east coast of Canada, close to 30,000 people had lost their lives. The Storm of 1780 was the deadliest In history.  

Motorists Should Stay Alert AS Deer Season Begins

October 9, 2024 - With deer season nears, the increased activity in wooded areas and along with the cooler weather, the deer population is already on the move. Motorists are urged to stay alert in pre-dawn hours and just after sunset.

Bow season for white-tailed deer in Texas began on Sept. 28 and ends Nov. 1 in East Texas. Opening day for deer hunting in Texas begins Nov. 2 and ends Jan. 5, 2025. Through these weeks, motorists should be on alert for moving deer that cross the roadways.
