TX AG’s Office Announces Former RadioShack Will Be Compensating Consumers for Gift Cards

December 3, 2015 AUSTIN – Texas Attorney General’s Office today announced that holders of gift cards purchased from the former retailer RadioShack can now file claims seeking to recover the unused balance on their cards. The claims process is part of a settlement agreement previously approved in the U.S. Bankruptcy court in Wilmington, Delaware and was led by the State of Texas and supported by 23 other states and the District of Columbia.

Construction Begins on Starr Avenue in Nacogdoches, Construction Plans for Nine-County Lufkin District

December 2, 2015 - Work is beginning this week on a $1.4 million construction project in Nacogdoches County located on Starr Avenue (FM 1878) that will add two additional lanes of travel and widen sidewalks.

Crews continue to relocate utilities with work scheduled between North Street and Clark Boulevard on Starr Avenue. The project will include widening the roadway from two to four lanes. Concrete curb and gutter and widened sidewalks will also be included and traffic signals at North Street and Mound Street will be replaced.

Forest Service Extends Camping Limits

December 2, 2015 - Forest visitors can now camp up to 28 days at selected recreation areas in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas.

Forest Supervisor Mark Van Every said he approved the change because for many who camp, the 14-day limit was wasn’t long enough.

“We heard loud and clear from our forest visitors they wanted to spend more than two weeks enjoying all the National Forests in Texas have to offer,” he said. “This will be a great benefit to our winter Texans who travel here to get away from the northern climates.”

Pineywoods Outreach Center Seeks Help for the Holidays

December 1, 2015 - Pineywoods Outreach Center is a non-profit youth center, nestled here in our Shelby county community to provide enrichment activities and services to all our youth. "Saving a Generation Ministry", was founded by Bishop WC Martin and his wife Lady Donna Martin when they decided to become actively involved in giving homes and families to children in the Texas foster system. Through their efforts, seventy (70) children have been adopted.
