N.E.W. Water System Rescinds Boil Water Notice

The water on N.E.W. WSC no longer requires boiling.

November 21, 2023 - On November 16, 2023, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the N.E.W. Water Supply, #2030034, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

NWS Special Weather Statement for Shelby, Surrounding Counties

November 20, 2023 - Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Shreveport LA 12:22pm CST Mon Nov 20 2023

A strong thunderstorm will impact West Central Sabine Parish., East Central Nacogdoches, Eastern Shelby, Northern San Augustine And Northwestern Sabine Counties through 1pm cst.

At 12:22pm CST, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Bland Lake, or 14 miles south of Center, moving northeast at 55 mph.

Hazard: Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and penny size hail.

November 20, 2023 - Tornado Watch outline update for WT 711 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 12:45pm CST Monday Nov 20 2023.

Tornado Watch 711 is in effect until 7pm CST for the following locations:

Texas counties included are: Angelina, Cherokee, Gregg, Hardin, Harrison, Houston, Jasper, Liberty, Marion, Nacogdoches, Newton, Orange, Panola, Polk, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, Shelby, Smith, Trinity, Tyler, Walker.

SC Commissioners Endorse Final Payment on Jackson Well Project

Shelby County Commissioners heard a final update involving the Jackson Well Project, funded with American Rescue Plan Act funds (ARPA), during their October 25, 2023, meeting.

The commissioners discussed the payment for final expenses to complete the Jackson Well with the total for these items being $21,463.07. Eric Garrett with Paxton Water Supply addressed the court, ”I want to give come preliminary ‘thank you’s’ to all of you, to you Judge, to this court, to Ann [Blackwell] invaluable help,” said Garrett.

November 15, 2023 - A Shelby County Grand Jury handed down 31 indictments on Thursday, October 5, 2023. The grand jury was impaneled for the July 2023 term of the 123rd/273rd Judicial District Courts.
