January 8, 2022 - The Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard reported 41 new cases on January 8th. The active cases are now up to 299.

January 6, 2022 - The Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard reported 47 new cases on January 7th. The active cases continue their rise and are up to 259.

January 6, 2022 - The jurors who have been summoned to the Courthouse on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 8:30am are hereby notified that their jury service has been cancelled. This is cancelling only those jurors summoned to the courthouse at 8:30am on January 10, 2022. Those jurors are released from service until they receive a future summons.

January 6, 2022 - The Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard reported 23 new cases on January 6th. The active cases rose to 218. Only 1 recovery was reported.

City of Center Schedules Water System Maintenance

December 31, 2021 - The City of Center Public Water System, PWS #2100001, will be conducting water system maintenance beginning January 1, 2022, and lasting until January 31, 2022. The system will be switching to free chlorine as its main disinfection.

This maintenance which is not a requirement, but is the recommended course of action set by the TCEQ/EPA for the accumulation of disinfection byproducts.

January 5, 2022 - The Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard reported 14 new cases on January 5th. The active cases rose to 196. There were only 2 recoveries reported.

Hurst Street Scene of Major Two-Vehicle Crash

January 5, 2021 - Hurst Street in Center was the scene of a major two-vehicle collision Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at the entrance to McDonalds and Walmart.

Following the collision, both vehicles were left disabled and off the roadway one in a ditch and the other on a hill.

Center FD Fights House Fire on CR 3012

January 4, 2021 - The Center Fire Department fought a house fire Sunday, January 2, 2021 at a residence off CR 3012 located behind some chicken houses at 11:09am.

Joaquin VFD Fights Barn Fire

January 4, 2021 - The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department (JVFD) responded to a barn on fire on County Road 3524 in Joaquin at 11:05pm on January 3, 2022. The fire burned much of the tools and equipment stored inside, but no one was harmed.
