January 14, 2021 - The Texas COVID-19 Dashboard added a total of 14 new cases of COVID-19 and 7 new recoveries. Of the new cases, 4 were confirmed cases and 10 were probable cases.
The surge of cases continues, however, recoveries helped to slow the increase of active cases for the first time since January 3rd.
January 14th (4:00pm) Numbers:
Total Confirmed Cases - 741 (4 new cases)
Total Probable Cases - 471 (10 new cases)
Total Fatalities - 41
Total Estimated Active Cases - 187
Total Estimated Recovered - 984
January 13, 2021 - The Texas COVID-19 Dashboard added a total of 22 new cases of COVID-19 for a new largest single day increase for the 2021 year. The previous record was January 3rd with 18 cases.
Of the new cases, 5 were confirmed cases and 17 were probable cases.
The surge of cases continues to push up the active case count which is now 180 and once again no new recoveries were reported allowing the numbers to continue to grow unimpeded.
January 13, 2021 - (Photos courtesy Constable Pct. 5) - Josh Tipton, Shelby County Constable Precinct 5, reports a stolen vehicle was recovered on January 3rd off the roadway in a wooded area on CR 4088.

January 12, 2021 - The Texas COVID-19 Dashboard added a total of 13 new cases of COVID-19 for a new active case count of 158. Of the new cases, 7 were confirmed cases and 6 were probable cases.
January 12, 2021 - U.S. Highway 96 North (Tenaha Street) in Center was the scene of a two-vehicle crash Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
Center Fire Department personnel were quick to respond to the scene where they diverted traffic and helped assess the emergency needs of those involved.
January 12, 2021 - Excelsior ISD classes will resume Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at regular time.
January 11, 2021 - Excelsior ISD will be CLOSED Tuesday, January 12, 2021 due to no electricity
January 10, 2021 - Excelsior ISD will be CLOSED Monday, January 11, 2021. Classes resume at normal time Tuesday. If that changes, it will be posted here.
January 11, 2021 - The County Offices will open at 10am on Tuesday, January 12, 2021.
January 10, 2021 - According to Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison, county offices will be closed Monday due to hazardous driving conditions. Everyone please be safe if you have to be out in the weather.
Updated 6:57pm - The Texas COVID-19 Dashboard added a total of 7 new cases of COVID-19 for a new active case count of 145. Of the new cases, 6 were confirmed cases and 1 was a probable case. No new recoveries were reported to help offset the growing active cases.

January 11, 2021 - Due to concerns about a potential refreeze, the morning fog, and families still trying to get electricity back, Tenaha ISD will resume classes tomorrow, January 12 at 10am. Buses will run 2 hours later than usual time. Staff report at 9:30am.
Please use extreme caution on all roadways as temperatures will remain below freezing, but no additional precipitation is expected.
