April 21, 2020 - Shelby County has had 3 new cases reported and one more recovery which brings Shelby County numbers to 67 cases and 6 recoveries. County Judge Allison Harbison received no notice of hospitalizations.
April 20, 2020 - Shelby County Office of Emergency Management was notified Monday afternoon by Texas Dept. of State Health Services (DSHS) of 4 more positive confirmed case of COVID-19 bringing the total case count for Shelby County to 64. DSHS reports that the majority of these cases are community spread and not travel related.
April 20, 2020 - The water on CR 4323 at Risinger Creek has receded and the roadway is back open.
April 20, 2020 - Tom Bellmyer, Precinct 4 Commissioner, announces a road closure on County Road 4323 at Risinger Creek. When the road condition allows, the roadway will be re-opened.

April 19, 2020 - Reports have come in to Shelby County Today as of 12:30 of roadways effected by the rain storms that have just blown through the area.
April19, 2020 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Southeastern Panola County in northeastern Texas, Southeastern Rusk County in northeastern Texas, Northeastern Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas,Shelby County in eastern Texas until 12-noon CDT.
At 1112 AM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Trawick, or 13 miles north of Nacogdoches, moving east at 55 mph.
April 19, 2020 - The National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for, Southern De Soto Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Northwestern Sabine Parish in northwestern Louisiana, Eastern Nacogdoches County in eastern Texas, Central Shelby County in eastern Texas, North central San Augustine County in eastern Texas until 11:15 AM CDT.
At 10:33am CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Neuville, or 7 miles south of Center, moving northeast at 65 mph.
April 17, 2020 - Texas Governor Greg Abbott issued an Executive Order today, April 17, 2020, maintaining that schools shall remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year.
The order encourages public education teachers and staff to continue to work remotely from home, and that they may return to schools to conduct remote video instruction, as well as administrative duties.
Private schools are encouraged to adopt similar practices.
Students have now been out of school for over a month.
April 17, 2020 Austin - Governor Greg Abbott today held a press conference where he issued three new Executive Orders to begin the process of reopening the state of Texas while revising hospital capacity and certain social distancing guidelines. Within the orders, select activities and services that pose minimal to no threat of spreading COVID-19 are allowed to reopen using a "Retail-To-Go" model, certain restrictions on surgeries have been loosened, and schools will remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year.
Update: Shortly after the press release was sent out by the SC Office of Emergency Management, TxDSHS notified them of two more cases bringing the total to 51 for Shelby County.
April 16, 2020 - Shelby County Office of Emergency Management was notified by Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) on April 15th of 5 more positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 bringing the total case count for Shelby County to 49.
