August 13, 2019 - A Huxley man is currently in the hospital following a shooting incident early Tuesday morning, August 13.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 3am August 13, 2019, Shelby County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a residence in the Huxley community for an ongoing disturbance between a man and a woman.
August 13, 2019 - The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Sand Hill Water Supply Corporation PWS ID NO. 2100013, to issue a Boil Water Notice on August 9, 2019, to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.
August 13, 2019 Lufkin – Area schools will be opening their doors for the new school year this month and that means school zone signal lights will be activated and school buses will be rolling.
Motorists are urged to obey all school zones and traffic control while lights are activated.
“This is an important time of year for many area children, teachers and parents,” said Rhonda Oaks, public information officer. “Many drivers will be in a hurry especially that first day of school and we urge motorists to stay alert and slow down to the posted school zone speed.”
August 12, 2019 - The Jury that was summoned for Tuesday, August 13, 2019, for the 123rd District Court, Honorable LeAnn K. Rafferty presiding, has been cancelled.
All cases scheduled have been resolved or passed.
Anyone receiving a jury summons for this day is released until the receive a future summons.
August 11, 2019 - FM 1970 just north of Timpson was the scene of what was first reported as a single-vehicle crash, as first responders arrived a second crash occurred.
August 9, 2019 - Due to a break in the main water line causing low water pressure, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the Sand Hill Water Supply Corporation PWS ID NO. 2100013 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc.). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).
August 8, 2019 - Texas Department of Public Safety has released information on the driver involved in a fatal crash this morning on U.S. Highway 96 North, after notifying next of kin.
The water on San Augustine Rural WSC no longer requires boiling.

August 6, 2019 - Deputies with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) were dispatched to County Road 3090 on August 5, 2019, at approximately 8:15 p.m in the Campti area in regards to a missing person.
Once on scene, deputies learned that Marcelo Retamar, 44, of Joaquin, had been building a fence along with several co-workers on a property located on County Road 3102. According to the co-workers, at approximately 5:30pm, Retamar walked to retrieve water approximately 100 yards away, and when they looked up, he was gone.
