September 10, 2018 - Effective Immediately, the Order Restricting Outdoor Burn (Burn Ban) has been lifted for the unincorporated portions of Nacogdoches County.

Timpson Reported Site of New 3.2 Earthquake

September 4, 2018 - Timpson has once again been reported to have experienced an earthquake Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:06am.

According to the United States Geological Survey, an M 3.2 earthquake occurred 7km northwest of Timpson, Texas at a depth of 5.0 km.

Timpson was the location of a 4.8 magnitude earthquake May 17, 2012 and several other similar earthquakes after that time.

DPS Reports Fatal Crash on State Highway 7

September 4, 2018 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash on State Highway 7 yesterday morning that reportedly occurred the previous night, about one half mile east of County Road 1211.

The preliminary investigation indicates at approximately 10:30 p.m., on September 2, a 2008 Pontiac passenger car was traveling east. For reasons not yet determined by Troopers, the driver drove across the westbound lanes and struck a tree. The crash was not discovered until approximately 8:30 a.m., on September 3.

Caddo Mounds State Historic Site Atlatl Program

September 4, 2018 Alto, Texas – Caddo Mounds State Historic Site invites the public to participate in a day program learning about the ancient hunting and throwing device known as the atlatl. The program will be offered at 1:00 P.M. Activities will include instruction on the development of hunting tools, different atlatl styles, and throwing techniques. There will be an opportunity for participants to practice throwing darts at a target using the atlatl. This program is part of a primitive technologies series being offered at the site.
