July 31, 2018 - The Shelbyville Independent School District offers career and technical education programs in family and consumer science, agricultural science, business education, and multi-occupational co-op training. Admission to these programs is based on interest and aptitude, age appropriateness, and class space available.
July 30, 2018 - Toletha Furlow Scholarship Fund t-shirts are now on sale for $18. Order forms are available in the office on each Shelbyville ISD campus. The deadline for ordering is August 30, 2018.
July 30, 2018 - The 2017-2018 Dragon Band’s recording of its march, from UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest, received 1st Place at the STATE level of the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) contest.
June 28, 2018 - Shelbyville Dragon Band Boosters will have a meeting on Monday, July 2 at 6pm in the band hall (refreshments will be served). All parents and supporters of the Dragon band are encouraged to attend.
June 25, 2018 - The SHS Dragon Band’s recordings from this year's UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest, in which the band earned 1st division ratings for all judges, have advanced to the STATE level of both the ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) and the TMEA Honor Band competitions.
The area round of the ATSSB OPS was held on June 19 at Orange Grove High School in Orange Grove, Tx. The Dragon Band’s march (Emblem of Unity) received 1st place, and the band’s concert piece (Brave Spirit) received 3rd place. Both pieces will advance to state.
June 14, 2018 - Honor Band is the highest award a concert band can receive in the state of Texas.
The purpose of honor band is twofold. Many educators believe that through the process of hearing and observing the results of quality teaching, directors can develop their own instructional skills to a higher level. In addition, selection of an honor band in each classification recognizes communities and school systems that successfully support music in education through their instrumental music programs.
June 7, 2018 - The S.W. Carter Award was presented to Parker Chase for the 2017-2018 school year.
This award is established in memory of S. W. Carter, an educator who displayed outstanding qualities of leadership, a marked respect for improving Shelbyville Independent School District and our community and shown a reverence for life.
June 7, 2018 - The President’s Award for Educational Excellence was established to recognize academic success in the classroom. It is designed to encourage students to achieve high academic standards by recognizing and rewarding them for educational excellence. To receive this award, fifth grade students must have high achievement on the math or reading portion of the 5th grade STAAR test and earn a grade point average of 90 or above in the fourth and fifth grades.
