Hallsville Bobcats Stadium, December 1, 2018 –
The Tenaha Tigers will once again play for a regional championship after defeating the Carlisle Indians Varsity Football team by a 35-14 score. The game on Saturday was the Area Round of the UIL Class 2A Division 1 playoffs.
Tenahas’ Jay Lloyd rushed for 220 yards during the contest and scored three touchdowns. Tenaha ended the Indian’s previously unbeaten season after Carlisle had posted a 12-0 season mark until Saturday’s loss.
Tenaha (10-3) was last season’s Division II state runner-up and they finished third in District 11 2A this season. Trailing Garrison by 2 conference wins and second seed Joaquin who had two conference loses as well but won head-to-head in their matchup with the Tigers. Tenaha has reached the state quarterfinals for the eighth consecutive year.
The Carlisle Indians had arguably their best seasons in program history, but it came to an end at Bobcat Stadium in Hallsville with the loss.
The Tigers will now face the San Augustine Wolves on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 7 p.m. at Golden Dragons Stadium at Nacogdoches High School’s Dragons Stadium. The Wolves are 12-2 and defeated the Garrison Bulldogs 29-27 in their Area Playoff to reach the regional final game.
The Tenaha Tigers coaching staff, led by Head Football Coach Craig Jenkins, have prepared the team to reach this level again despite the Tigers moving up from Division 2 to the bigger Division 1 classification.

The Carlisle Indian’s Gerald Turner ran for five touchdowns and threw for another, Indian’s teammate Louie Garza returned a fumble for a score and Carlisle eliminated the Joaquin Rams by a 47-33 score on Friday in a Class 2A Division I Region III area playoff game.
Turner finished with 208 yards rushing on 16 carries and also completed 9 of 12 passes for 224 yards and a score. Jay Price hauled in six of the passes for 205 yards and a touchdown.
Turner got the Indians (12-0) going with an 11-yard touchdown run just two minutes into the game, but Joaquin's Hunter Gates answered with a 9-yard score with 6:28 remaining to tie the game at 7-7.
That would be the first of 42 combined points between Turner and Gates in the opening quarter.
Turner had touchdown runs of seven, six and one yards to go with his 11-yard score, and Gates countered with a 70-yard scoring run to go with an 88-yard kickoff return.
Carlisle led 28-21 at the end of the first quarter.
Trenton Ramsey completed a 15-yard scoring pass to Lorenzo Lane was the game's only second quarter points and brought the Rams to within 27-28 at the midway break.
Joaquin gained their first lead in the third quarter when Ramsey connected with Connor Bragg on a 17-yard touchdown pass with 9:13 remaining in the frame.
However, it took one play and 12 seconds for Turner to answer when he dashed 77 yards to paydirt as he put Carlisle back up 34-33. The try for a two-point conversion was batted away.
Joaquin launched an offensive drive and drove the football inside the Carlisle 37-yard line on the Ram’s next drive. The Ram’s later fumbled and it was returned by Garza 68 yards for an Indian’s touchdown which gave Carlisle an eight-point lead with 6:04 remaining in the third quarter.
Turner found Price on a 58-yard Carlisle score with 9:32 in the contest for the final points of the contest.
Joaquin finished with 345 yards rushing on 49 carries. Gates led the way with 147 yards, and Bragg added 133. Bragg also caught two passes for 64 yards. Joaquin finishes the season with a 9-3 mark.
It was a big offensive night all around, with a combined 920 yards

November 17, 2018, Woodville Eagles Stadium –
On Friday, the Center Roughrider’s Varsity Football team fell to the Liberty Panthers by a 55-38 margin during a UIL Class 4A Bi-District Playoff elimination game. Center came in as the District 9 second place representative with a 6-4 overall record. Liberty was the third place representative of District 10 and they had a 6-4 mark overall and a 2-2 league standing.
Liberty scored first when Jeremiah Guillory found the endzone on a 3-yard touchdown run with 8:16 left in the first quarter. Giovanni Lopez added an extra point kick to give the Panthers a 7-0 lead.
Center pulled to within one point when quarterback Jayden Hicks hit Zac Smith on a 19-yard touchdown pass which pulled the ‘Riders to within 6-7. An extra point attempt failed and CHS trailed by a single point.
Early in the second quarter, JJ Slack scored on a 3-yard touchdown run which gave Liberty a 14-6 advantage with 9:21 left in the first half.
Hicks scored on a 22-yard keeper run which pulled Center to within 12-14 with 8:12 left in the half. A 2-point conversion run, which would have tied the game, failed.
Guillory scored his second touchdown, on a 37-yard scoring run, just four plays later to give Liberty a 21-12 lead with 5:11 left in the second period.
Disaster struck again when Center fumbled away their next possession and Panther Jordan Leday rumbled 41 yards for a score just 30 seconds later. Liberty took a 28-12 lead with 4:34 left in the second stanza.
Hicks returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for a Roughriders touchdown with 4:17 left in the first half. An extra point conversion attempt failed and CHS trailed Liberty 18-28.
Guillory and Slack each added touchdowns before the end of the first half and the Panthers took a 42-18 lead into the midway intermission at halftime.
Center was able to outscore Liberty 20-13 in the second half but it was a case of too-little-too-late. Liberty held on for the 55-38 win. Liberty advances to play Giddings in the Area round of the UIL Playoffs next week.
November 6, 2018 - The Center Recreation Department is proud to announce the 2019 Little Dribblers sign ups will begin soon at the Center Middle School Cafeteria.
Sign up days are Thursday, November 8; Monday, November 12; and Thursday, November 15. All days are from 5pm to 7pm.
The cost is $55 for Basketball for ages 4-12 which includes jersey, insurance, trophy, and all fees.
All children are eligible to play as long as they were born between August 2006 and August 2014. Each child must present an Original or Notarized Copy of their Birth Certificate. A Medical Form must be signed by their parent or guardian at Sign-Ups. Anyone interested in Coaching or Volunteering, please notify a Board Member at Sign-Ups.

November 14, 2018 - Cole Ferguson, a senior at Shelbyville High School, signed a Letter of Intent to play baseball for the University of Houston this morning, November 14, 2018. Cole has worked very hard for this achievement and we would like to congratulate him and let him know how proud we are!
November 13, 2018 - The Joaquin High School Bi-District playoff football game vs. West Sabine will be held on Friday, November 16th at Nacogdoches High School with a start time of 7:30 pm. Joaquin will be the home team and admission will be $5.00 across the board. Passes honored: THSCA and District passes issued from 11 and 12 - 2A-Div 1.

Game Information
The Tenaha Tigers will take on the Shelbyville Dragons in the 2A Division 1 Bi-District round of playoffs this Friday night, November 16th at 7pm. The game will be held at Waskom High School football stadium located at 980 School Avenue, Waskom, TX 75692. The Tigers will be the Visitors. Tickets may be purchased at the gate; Adults $6.00 and Students $4.00. District, THSCA and Senior citizen passes will be accepted. Parking space is limited in the main parking lot but there is additional parking behind school. As you come in to Waskom from Hwy 9, cross I20 and a take left on School Ave, and then take the first street to the right. This should take you to visitor’s parking lot.

Basketball News - On Thursday, Nov. 15, 2018 the Middle school girls basket ball game versus Jasper (original site was MS gym) has been moved to HS gym at 4:30pm.
Center High School Girls Basketball game versus Harding Jefferson (original date 11.16.18) has been rescheduled to Saturday, November 17 at Harding Jefferson at 2 p.m.
Football Play-off News - The Center Football play-off game is Friday, November 16, 2018 against Liberty High School at Woodville High School Stadium (700 Eagle Drive -- Woodville, Texas 75979). Game time is 7:30pm.
Center is the home team. All tickets will be sold at the gate - adults $6 and students $4. Passes accepted are THSCA, senior citizens, District 9-4A, and District 10-4A.
