The Timpson Bears (10-0) took a 6-0 points lead in Friday’s District 10 Class 2A-1 championship game with the Joaquin Rams (8-1). The Bears never looked back and eventually won the contest by a 63-0 final score. The game decided the district's #1 seed in this year's Texas class 2A football playoffs between the last two undefeated teams in the conference. A 5-yard scoring run by junior runningback Braden Courtney had capped a 76-yard scoring drive with 9:01 left to play in the first quarter. The extra point kick attempt failed but not much else would go wrong for Timpson on this night.

Both teams following possessions failed but Bear freshman Tyler Lane recovered a Rams fumble on Joaquin’s 19-yard line with 1:30 left in the opening frame. Timpson capitalized on the error moments later when Lane scored on a 13-yard touchdown run with 32 seconds left in the opening stanza. Next Logan Depaepe added his first, of what would prove to be many, extra point kicks to the Bear’s tally and THS led 13-0 near the end of the first period.

The second frame was tough on the Rams as well. Courtney scored on an 80-yard touchdown run following a Ram’s interception. Timpson then led 20-0 with 5:38 left in the first half. KT Washington recovered a Ram’s fumble moments later and then he later pulled down a 20-yard touchdown less than one minute from the previous score. The Bears had built a 27-0 lead with 4:39 left in the half.

Scoring for the first half wasn’t over. Trey Davis recovered another JHS fumble and then he pulled down a 45-yard touchdown reception at the 3:41 mark to give the Bears a 34-0 lead which held up until halftime.

Courtney added another touchdown run to his tally with a 33-yarder early in the third period. Bussey added two more touchdown receptions to his resume by the 3:36 mark of the third quarter.

The final score of the game came on a 1-yard touchdown run by Courtney with 7:12 minutes remaining.
