September 17, 2016 - One of the missions of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) is to honor our ancestors, to perpetuate the memory of the men and women who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas.
On Saturday, September 24th, the William Carroll Crawford Chapter will have a Memorial Medallion Ceremony for Elisha Berryman Adams and Nancy Collins Adams and for their great-granddaughter, Robbie Singletary Fletcher. Robbie was a member of our Chapter.
September 6, 2016 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet Saturday, September 10, at noon at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center. The chapter will hold a welcoming ceremony for their newest member, Vickie Sample Martin and a Republic of Texas Citizen Medallion ceremony honoring Richard Biggar. Plans for the 2016-2017 year will be discussed, as will the upcoming Pinecone and Mistletoe Christmas Market. Chapter officers will meet at 10:45 for an officers meeting and will be hostesses for the luncheon.
June 1, 2016 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will honor William Jasper Samford and his wife, Barbara Snider Samford and their descendants on Saturday, June 4, at 10am with a ceremony at the cemetery at the First Methodist Church in Center. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held at the Historic Courthouse on the Square.
May 5, 2016 - The annual Truitt Cemetery Homecoming will be held Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 AM at the Truitt Cemetery off Highway 7E, between Center and Joaquin.
As part of the program members of the William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas and the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas will have a memorial medallion ceremony honoring Joshua Hall Truitt, son of James and Sarah Hall Truitt and a citizen of the Republic of Texas.
April 4, 2016 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will hold their April meeting on Saturday, April 9, at 10:00 AM at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center. Patricia Harrison will have a presentation on tobacco growing in early east Texas. Following the program the business meeting will cover the upcoming Convention, the 2016 chapter scholarships and other chapter business.
March 10, 2016 - UPDATE: The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will NOT be meeting Saturday. The meeting and flag ceremony will be rescheduled to a later date.
January 6, 2016 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas will meet Saturday, January 9, at 10:00 AM at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center.
Hostesses will be Tina Dubose, Nori Latimer and Ruby Switzer. Gail Sholar, Chapter historian, will present a program on the Chapter yearbook; the requirements to enter a yearbook in competition at the DRT Convention and the importance of maintaining a visual record of the Chapter activities.

December 8, 2015 - If you love your library, you love your librarian. So come by the Fanny Brown Booth Library in Center on Friday, December 11, at 10:00 AM and say goodbye to Joan Huff. Joan has been at the library since 2001, encouraging readers, writing grants, meeting with the public and doing what it takes to push the library into the public's attention.
The reception in the Redditt Room at the library will be a chance to show your appreciation, your friendship and your support as she goes on to the next phase of her life.
December 7, 2015 - The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, the Gateway to Texas Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the JJE Gibson Chapter of the Children of the Republic of Texas will join together for their annual Christmas luncheon on Saturday, December 12, at noon at the Sam Samford Lodge in Center.
