February 16, 2021 - Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) is monitoring a second, potentially dangerous winter storm that may bring a mix of snow and more than half an inch of ice to the Ark-La-Tex Tuesday and Wednesday, potentially causing extended power outages.
SWEPCO is assembling a power restoration workforce of more than 2,600 utility linemen, tree trimmers and support personnel from 15 states and Canada to assist company resources. Workers will be positioned in Shreveport, Natchitoches, Longview and Texarkana.
February 15, 2021 – Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) has begun temporarily interrupting power to parts of its service territory in an emergency procedure prompted by extreme winter temperatures.
The controlled outages are being implemented by utilities across multiple states as part of emergency procedures to reduce load on the electric system and prevent wider area outages. The action was taken at the direction of the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), the regional organization that manages the electric grid across 17 central and western U.S. states.

(SWEPCO), acting upon a request of the Southwest Power Pool (SPP), is asking all customers to conserve electricity for 48 hours beginning at 12:01 a.m. Monday as extreme cold grips the region. SPP, the regional organization that manages the electric grid across 17 central and western U.S. states, reports a high demand for electricity that is expected to increase over the next several days because of persistent, widespread and extreme cold.

January 19, 2021 - Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) bills are sometimes being delivered past their due dates because of unprecedented delays in mail delivery. As a result, customers may be at risk for late fees, additional deposits and possible disconnections.
“SWEPCO offers a variety of digital payment options so that customers can stay on track with bill payments,” said Paul Pratt, director of Customer Services and Marketing. “These options can help you keep tabs on due dates and amounts, and make timely payments, even if mail is running late.”
January 11, 2021 - SWEPCO has restored power to almost half of Louisiana and East Texas customers impacted by Sunday’s winter storm. As of 5:30 p.m. Monday, about 34,000 customers remained without power.
More than 400 line and tree personnel from SWEPCO, its sister company Public Service Company of Oklahoma, and outside contract crews are working to restore service.
January 11, 2021 - A winter storm dumped up to four inches of heavy, wet snow across Louisiana and East Texas, leaving 57,800 SWEPCO customers without power as of 9 a.m. Monday.
SWEPCO estimates power for most Louisiana customers will be restored by 10 p.m. Tuesday and by 10 p.m. Wednesday for most East Texas customers.
January 11, 2021 - Approximately 38,000 SWEPCO customers are without power as heavy, wet snow blankets East Texas and Louisiana.
Most outages are being caused by tree branches weighed down by snow coming into contact with a power line. Safety devices automatically de-energize the power lined when this occurs.
