SWEPCO Prepares for Severe Storms

October 31, 2018 - SWEPCO is preparing for the potential impact of severe storms across much of its Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas service territory this afternoon and tonight. The storms are forecasted to bring 60 mph wind gusts and frequent lightning, with the possibility of flash floods and tornados.

SWEPCO is carefully monitoring the weather system, with crews on the alert and materials ready.

SWEPCO serves 535,000 customers in western Arkansas, northwest and central Louisiana, northeast Texas and the Texas Panhandle.

SWEPCO Prepares for Overnight Storm

April 13, 2018 - SWEPCO is ramping up its workforce and making other preparations to respond to power outages that may be caused by the forecasted storm across most of SWEPCO’s three-state service territory. The storms are forecasted to bring wind gusts of up to 60 mph late Friday and early Saturday morning.

SWEPCO has closely monitored the developing storm system for several days; crews are positioned to safely restore power to customers as quickly as possible.

Texas Commission Approves SWEPCO Rate Increase

February 5, 2018 - (New SWEPCO Texas Rates) - The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) has approved a base rate increase for Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), a unit of American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP).

The PUCT approved the increase in base rates to recover the costs of installing additional environmental controls at four major power plants, along with other generation, transmission, and distribution-related investments and operating costs.  

Electrical Safety Tips From SWEPCO for Holiday Season

November 30, 2017 - “The year’s largest and most festive holiday season is upon us. In addition to the cheer, sharing and family togetherness, safety should be considered when decorating the house,” said Scott McCloud, Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) principal communications consultant in Shreveport. “Electrical safety is especially important during the holiday season due to decorative lights draped through trees and around homes.”

SWEPCO Continues to Educate Customers on Imposter Utility Scams

November 13, 2017 – Southwestern Electric Power Company (SWEPCO) is proud to stand with its fellow electric, water, and natural gas utilities and trade associations in support of Utilities United Against Scams (UUAS). UUAS is a consortium of more than 100 U.S. and Canadian utilities and will observe the second annual Utility Scam Awareness Day, Wednesday, November 15, as part of a week-long advocacy and awareness campaign, November 13 – 17.
