July 31, 2019 Longview – AEP Teacher Vision Grants from Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO) will enable two East Texas teachers to improve student learning in the classroom.
Candace Luviano, a kindergarten teacher at Sam Houston Elementary in Marshall, and Elizabeth White, an engineering teacher at Pine Tree High School in Longview, each received a $500 grant.
“There is no greater feeling than knowing my students will have the same opportunities as the top tech and private schools in the big cities,” White said.
July 15, 2019 Shreveport – Southwestern Electric Power Co. (SWEPCO), an American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) company, today announced plans to add 810 megawatts (MW) of wind energy by 2022. This proposal supports SWEPCO’s long-term plan of significantly increasing its use of more environmentally friendly energy sources, such as wind and solar.
In filings submitted today, SWEPCO seeks approval of the proposal from utility regulators in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas. The proposal is also subject to review by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
May 10, 2019 - More than 500 line and service personnel are working in the field to restore power, including crews from throughout SWEPCO and outside contractors, following severe storms that struck the Ark-La-Tex Wednesday.
April 14, 2019 - SWEPCO has restored power to 9,200 customers after severe storms on Saturday struck the Ark-La-Tex. At the peak, about 16,700 customers were without power.
The outages include approximately 6,200 customers in Louisiana and 1,200 in Texas.
SWEPCO and contract linemen are working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore power throughout the day. Power is expected to be restored to 95 percent of customers by:
April 13, 2019 - SWEPCO crews are working to restore power as safely and as quickly as possible to the nearly 14,000 customers who remain without power after severe storms with high winds struck the Ark-La-Tex Saturday.
The outages include approximately 11,000 customers in Louisiana, 2,500 in Texas, and 400 in Arkansas. About 16,700 customers were without power at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Additional storms may delay repairs already underway and cause additional outages.
