June 18, 2019 - There are just not enough words to say thank you for your kind and generous hearts. But we are shouting a great big THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to all who baked, bought, donated and said prayers for us during this time. June 17, 2019Huntsville - Sam Houston State University would like to recognize William Cummings from Tenaha and Alexus Ceasar-Walker of Center for earning the honor of being named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2019 semester.
The students listed on the Dean's List of Academic Honors at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, are undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.
June 17, 2019 - In celebration of Hunger Awareness Month, Shelby County Outreach Ministries will have a Canned Food Drive from June 10th thru June 14th. Donations may be dropped off at Shelby County Outreach Ministries between 9-2 M-F.
Statistics say that 21.3% of people in Shelby County live in a food insecure home. This means that we have people in our community that are hungry and not sure where their next meal will come from.
June 14, 2019 - In the United States, flag day is celebrated on June 14. It commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States, which happened on June 14, 1777.
June 14, 2019 - Bobbie Nutt drew the winner of the father's day gift basket for Shelby County Outreach Ministries on Friday, June 14th and the winner was Roger Wagstaff! Josh Crawford said to the winner, "Congratulations and Happy Father's Day!"
June 13, 2019 - Mangum and Taylor Funeral Homes are honored to serve families during their time of need and also take great pride in supporting the community and its residents throughout the year.
For the second year in a row, Mangum and Taylor Funeral Homes have presented one senior from each high school in Shelby County with a $500 scholarship. The staff would like to wish each recipient the best as they pursue future endeavors.
