November 13, 2023 - Good Morning. It's Monday, November 13.

My wife and I suffered a loss in our home this past weekend, the loss of a beloved pet. Those who don't have pets, don't always understand the depth of this kind of loss. But those that have experienced the joy of an animal who becomes "part of the family," understand it all too well. Here are some quotes that have encouraged me the last few days. November 10, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Friday, November 10.

On November 10, 1956, the Marine War Memorial was unveiled near Arlington Cemetary in Washington D. C. Maybe you've been there to see it. Even if you haven't, you know the statue. It's a re-creation of the famous World War II photograph of the marines raising the American flag on Iwo Jima. A fitting way to remember the bravery of soldiers and the sacrifice that they gave to protect our freedom.

USDA Reminds Farmers and Ranchers to Vote in Angelina-Nacogdoches-Trinity-San Augustine-Shelby Committee Election

December 4, 2023 is the Last Day to Return Ballots!

November 9, 2023 — The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has started mailing ballots for the Farm Service Agency (FSA) county committee elections to eligible farmers and ranchers across the country. To be counted, ballots must be returned to the Angelina-Nacogdoches-Trinity-San Augustine-Shelby County FSA office or postmarked by Dec. 4, 2023.

Forest Service Waives Day-Use Fees for Veterans Day

November 8, 2023 – Many recreation areas and other venues in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas will be free to the public on Saturday, November 11, in honor of Veterans Day.

“We honor our veterans daily, particularly on Veterans Day,” said Forest Supervisor Kimpton Cooper. “We hope our veterans and other visitors find our national forests and grasslands a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.”

Camping fees remain in effect, but day-use fees are waived at these recreation areas and trails:

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Commission Thank Texans for Approving Prop 14

November 8, 2023 — Ballots have been tallied from election day and voters have made it clear— state parks matter to the people of Texas. Proposition 14, which creates the Centennial Parks Conservation Fund, passed with overwhelming support from Texas voters.

The fund is made from a portion of state budget surplus and creates a dedicated funding stream for acquiring and developing state parks.

PUCT to Administer Texas Energy Fund Following Voter Approval of Proposition 7

TEF to Help Fund Construction and Modernization of Reliable Energy Resources

November 8, 2023 – The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) will implement the Texas Energy Fund (TEF), as directed by the Texas Legislature through Senate Bill 2627 and approved by Texas voters on November 7. The TEF will provide grants and loans to finance the construction, maintenance, modernization, and operation of electric facilities in Texas.
