Annual Litter Clean-up Campaign Scheduled for Saturday

March 29, 2022 - The Annual Don’t Mess With Texas Trash-off is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, signaling the largest one-day litter clean-up in Texas. Volunteers will be in various locations throughout the nine-county Lufkin District picking up trash along the roadway.

The yearly event utilizes Adopt-A-Highway volunteer groups throughout the county to participate.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission Approves Hunting Regulations Changes for 2022-23

March 29, 2022 - The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission approved hunting regulations for the 2022-23 season at its public meeting held March 24 in Austin. Commissioners adopted the following modifications and clarifications to the 2022-23 Statewide Hunting Proclamation:

The food was taken from the kitchen to the cars by attractive young girls called “carhops.” One does not see them any more, except an occasional food vendor in a large city doing this as a novelty.

March is drawing to a close and it's been a busy month. It started with Mardi Gras and has included St. Patrick's Day, the first day of spring, and now . . . March Madness! If you're not a sports fan, that's the college basketball national tournament. And something just happened that has never happened before. A 15th seeded team has made it to the "Elite Eight".

Detours Scheduled on Major Project in Nacogdoches

March 25, 2022 – Traffic will be detoured on Monday night (March 28) and Tuesday night (March 29) on US 59 at SL 224 in Nacogdoches so that concrete can be poured to form overhead bridge decks on the South Interchange construction project.

Traffic control will be in place and will detour traffic from northbound lanes into southbound lanes of US 59 at 8 pm Monday night to pour bridge decks over the northbound lanes. This will form a two-way traffic pattern.

March 24, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, March 24.

Today we’re talking about prayer and pharmacy! There are approximately 300,000 pharmacists in America and, over the years, I’ve counted two of them as my friends. One word describes their jobs - busy! My first friend was a member of my church choir and a druggist for Walmart. I remember him telling me how the time he spent with each customer was closely monitored by his supervisor. This was very frustrating for him, as he wanted to have the time to be personal, to be sensitive, to show care.
