March 16, 2021 - There is still time to take the City's Broadband Survey. We know that everyone has had other things on their mind the last couple of weeks. If you have not taken the City of Center's Broadband survey, there is still time to make your voice heard.

We need another 200 households to take the survey so we get reliable results.

Capital Update from Rep. Paddie: Small Business Recovery Act, Electric Reform

March 22, 2021 - Last week, House committees continued working on several important pieces of legislation. I laid out several bills, including the Texas Small Business Recovery Act and several of the electric reform bills that I wrote about earlier this month.

One of the bills that I laid out is HB 570, the Texas Small Business Recovery Act. This Act, which passed the House last year, but didn't make it through the Senate, would provide an incentive for investment funds to invest in small businesses in rural Texas. 

San Augustine Rural Water System Rescinds Boil Water Notice

The water on San Augustine Rural WSC no longer requires boiling.

March 22, 2021 - On February 17, 2021, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the San Augustine Rural Public Water System, #2030007, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Texas State Parks Working to Return to Normal Capacity

March 17, 2021 - Texas State Parks have begun a strategic and thoughtful process of expanding capacity statewide, tracking Gov. Greg Abbott’s latest reopening order, and allowing more Texans the opportunity to visit their favorite parks. Masks are strongly encouraged for park visitors, especially when indoors or in areas where it is difficult to socially distance. Also, restrictions affecting group sizes have been lifted.

Grants Available to Landowners in East Texas to Help Restore Longleaf Pine Forests

March 16, 2021 - Texas A&M Forest Service and the Texas Longleaf Pine Implementation Team have announced available funding for private landowners interested in restoring and enhancing longleaf pine ecosystems on their property. Grants have been made available by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and International Paper (NYSE: IP) through the Forestland Stewards Initiative. Funding was granted to help conserve and restore this iconic and important American landscape.

Help Bring Broadband Services to Shelby County; Fill Out County Broadband Survey

Dear Residents of Shelby County:

March 15, 2021 - Shelby County needs your assistance. We have partnered with Connected Nation and the Temple Foundation to gather important information about the need for Broadband services in Shelby County. Responding to this survey will help the entire population of Shelby County. 

I encourage you and your family members to take this online survey. There are 9 different surveys that you can complete, please complete each survey that applies to you. For example, I did the home, government, business, and agriculture surveys.
