TxDOT Project Updates/Work for July 23-27 in Lufkin District

July 20, 2018 Lufkin – TxDOT crews are busy throughout the nine county Lufkin District with construction and maintenance projects. Motorists will encounter work zones throughout the district and should prepare for delays and reduce speed to the advised work zone speed limit. Drivers should stay alert and respect all traffic control devices, watch for flaggers and stopped or slow moving traffic as they drive through a TxDOT work zone. San Augustine County Chamber Boots, Bandannas Civic Auction 2018

July 18, 2018 - Come out and enjoy an evening in San Augustine at the Boots & Bandannas Civic Auction Saturday, July 28th co-sponsored by Shelby Savings Bank an AR Brothers Construction! TSTC Registration Rally Set for July 19

July 17, 2018 Marshall - Texas State Technical College in Marshall will host a Registration Rally on Thursday, July 19 - all part of an effort to make the registration process as easy as possible for students starting classes in the fall semester.

Recruiting and Admissions staff will be on standby to walk students through the registration process. They will also offer tours and help with applications.

AG Paxton Issues Consumer Alert on Misleading Homestead Tax Exemption Offers

July 13, 2018 – Attorney General Ken Paxton today warned consumers to beware of businesses that are sending misleading letters to Texans offering a “designation of homestead” if they pay a fee. Counties make the standard homestead tax exemption available for free to property owners.

To date, the Consumer Protection Division of the attorney general’s office has received more than 100 complaints from individuals who received solicitations for these designations and, in some cases, sent back money for a homestead exemption.
