Kick Off Grilling Season with Food Safety in Mind

May 23, 2018 Washington — For many Americans, the summer grilling and travel season begins this upcoming weekend. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) wants to make sure you and your family avoid food poisoning this summer. An estimated 128,000 Americans are hospitalized with food poisoning each year, but foodborne illnesses can be prevented during summer months by properly handling perishable foods during travel, and by using a food thermometer when grilling.

Bradley Allen Encourages Voters to Turnout for Run-off Election; Change in Polling Location (Pd Adv)

May 18, 2018 - I’m Bradley Allen, Shelby County Commissioner for Precinct 4. I am coming to you, again to ask for your support and vote in the Republican run-off election on May 22. Please note that the poll location for Timpson North and Timpson South will be the Timpson Public Library. This is a change for this election only. The Republican Party chairman, Leigh Porterfield decided to combine the polling places in Timpson for this run-off election. The polling locations will remain the same for the rest of Precinct 4 as well as the rest of the County.

AG Paxton Reminds Texans of May 31 Deadline to Claim Western Union Refunds

May 21, 2018 Austin – Attorney General Ken Paxton today reminded Texans of the May 31 deadline to submit claims in a $586 million settlement with Western Union affecting consumers who were deceived into sending payments to scam artists using the company’s wire transfer service. As many as 39,000 Texans are eligible for refunds.

Martial Art Students Undergo Rank Testing

May 18, 2018 - On April 21, 2018 Martial art students at Self Defense America in Center, TX went through a rank testing. During this testing they had to show knowledge of strikes, blocks, kicks, self defense and terminology up to their current belt ranking. They also had an endurance portion and board breaking. We try to instill an indomitable spirit to keep going when it gets hard. We are very proud of these students.
