September 30, 2016 AUSTIN – Attorney General Ken Paxton today announced that Texas, 48 other states and the District of Columbia reached a settlement with USA Discounters to resolve the states’ claims of deceptive trade practices against the company. In its marketing, USA Discounters promised to provide credit to all military members, veterans and government employees for purchases of consumer goods from the retailer.

September 28, 2016 - The 8th Annual Angelina Wheelin’ Sportsmen Event for people with disabilities will be December 9-10 at Stephen F. Austin Experimental Forest, Winston Tree Farm and Alazon Wildlife Management Area.
The two-day deer and hog hunt is sponsored by the National Wild Turkey Federation’s Wheelin’ Sportsmen program, U.S. Forest Service, National Forests and Grasslands in Texas, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, April AWOL Chapter and Pineywoods Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation.
September 26, 2016 - Shelby County 4-H was well represented at the East Texas State Fair in Tyler Texas. Dawson Kay with Shelbyville 4-H exhibited his Charolais cross steer. He placed first in his class with his 934 pound steer.
The Charolais cross breed was the largest breed of the show.
September 26, 2016 - Twenty-six teams and four solo walkers dusted off their walking shoes and joined in to “Walk Across Texas!” These teams and solo walkers are competing with each other to see who can walk the most miles over eight weeks from September 10 – November 4, 2016.
