June 1, 2016 - I want to thank the voters or precinct 3 in Shelby County for having placed their trust in me to hold the office of Constable. I am humbled by your support. My promise to you is that I will do my best to uphold the laws of the United States of America and the State of Texas. I will work hard to serve each and every one of you. I want to thank my supporters, but I also want to let those that didn't support me know that I will work just as hard for you.

Forest Service Seeking Members for Advisory Committee

June 1, 2016 - The Sabine and Angelina Ranger District is seeking candidates to fill vacancies on its Title II Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) created under the Secure Rural Schools Act.

The committee is responsible for the development and recommendation of projects that will benefit National Forest land in Shelby and Sabine counties, as well as monitor the projects and provide advice to the Forest Service.

This Week at The Patricia Huffman Smith NASA “Remembering Columbia” Museum

June 1, 2016 - May has been an extremely busy month at the museum.  We had visitors from Vista Academy of Jasper, 3rd graders from Deweyville and Hemphill, and we had students from Burkeville.  

Mr. James Dean will return in the middle of June to complete the installation of the simulator.  It will be a one-of-a kind simulator and we are very grateful to Mr. Dean for his donation to our museum.

Gold Medal and Signature Kitchen Flour Recall Doesn't Effect Local Retailers

June 1, 2016 - General Mills is collaborating with health officials to investigate an ongoing, multistate outbreak of E. coli O121 that may be potentially linked to Gold Medal flour, Wondra flour, and Signature Kitchens flour (sold in Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel, Shaws, Vons, United, Randalls, and Acme). Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District Natural Resources/Agriculture Scholarship Award

April 11, 2016 - This year the Shelby Soil & Water Conservation District will be awarding a $1,000 scholar-ship.  The scholarship recipient will receive $500 for the fall 2016 semester and another $500 for the spring 2017 semester.  The Shelby SWCD Scholarship is open to college students who are working toward a degree in the natural resources or agricultural field.  We will be looking at individuals who meet the following qualifications:
