July 6, 2016 - Linda Bordelon, co-owner of Heavenly Honey Apiary on Toledo Bend Lake in Shelby County, presented the July 5 program to members of the Deep East Texas Beekeepers Association in San Augustine, Texas.
July 6, 2016 - With summer garage sales and upcoming elections, TxDOT wants to remind the public what is allowed to be placed on TxDOT right-of-ways.
Encroachments on state highways and right-of-ways includes any unauthorized structures, vehicles or roadside vendors. These items could cause damage to the roadway system, increase litter and frequently create an unsafe or hazardous condition.
Angelina-Nacogdoches-Trinity-San Augustine-Shelby County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Lance Jacobs, announced that the nomination period for local FSA county committees began on Wednesday, June 15, 2016.
"County Committees are unique to FSA and allow producers to have a voice on federal farm program implementation at the local level," said Jacobs.
July 3, 2016 - I recently discovered an old photograph of my grandmother, Mary Murphy, on her front porch watching her grandson, Larry Woods, playing in a wash-tub filled with water. Both Mary and Larry are gone from us now, but the image of the porch stuck in my mind. I miss front porches on our homes.
July 1, 2016 - LUFKIN – Traffic will be shifted beginning Tuesday, July 5, in order to begin the next phase of construction on a major San Augustine County construction project.
Traffic patterns will change for northbound and southbound traffic beginning next week to allow southbound lanes to be reconstructed on US 96 from the Shelby County line to FM 3451.

June 30, 2016 - The Timpson City Council approved a new truck for the fire department during their recent meeting held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.
Representing the fire department was fireman Jason Terry who explained the fire department is replacing Truck 1 which is a 1986-87 model truck. The tank and the pump currently on Truck 1 will be moved to the new truck. The new truck will be a Ford F450 or F350.
