Toledo Bend Water Releases Comply with FERC License, March 22

March 22, 2016 - (Toledo Bend Reservoir)   Spillway releases from the Toledo Bend Reservoir are continuing to be reduced as lake levels lower in the aftermath of the major rain event which dropped 18 inches of water directly over Toledo Bend.  Toledo Bend Reservoir, operated by the Sabine River Authority of Texas (SRA-TX) and the Sabine River Authority, State of Louisiana (SRA-LA) reached a record level high of 174.36 feet mean sea level (msl) at 6am. on March 10, 2016 due to the rainfall event. The current gauge reading at 6am is 172.15 feet msl.

Repairs Call for Road Closure, FM 343 in Nacogdoches County

March 21, 2016 - LUFKIN – A portion of FM 343 in Nacogdoches County will be closed for repairs on Wednesday after a culvert beneath the roadway collapsed on Friday, also causing a portion of the roadway to separate.

Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews in Nacogdoches County closed the roadway for a short time Friday night  in order to make temporary repairs with final repairs scheduled to be completed on Wednesday.

Panhandle to Expect Escalated Fire Weather Conditions

March 22, 2016 — LUBBOCK, Texas — Escalated fire weather conditions will be present over the Texas Plains region Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Storm Prediction Center has issued an alert putting parts of the Panhandle in the “extremely critical” and “elevated” categories for wildfire potential.

The areas of concern are Amarillo, Childress, Lubbock, Abilene and Midland/Odessa. 

Spanish-Speaking Consumers Should Be Aware of Scammers

March 21, 2016 - AUSTIN – Attorney General Ken Paxton today issued a warning to Spanish-speaking consumers, alerting them to scam artists posing as debt collectors calling on behalf of government entities. In recent cases, a caller claims to represent the Texas Supreme Court and demands payment of outstanding debts supposedly incurred by consumers sometime in the past.
