David's Daily Devotion for March 29

March 29, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Friday, March 29.

We come to the end of our five-day series on what Jesus was doing each day of the original Holy Week. During the last four days we've witnessed His encounters with friends and foes, with those who loved Him, and with those who plotted against Him.

And now, today - Jesus of Nazareth, the Son of Man, the Lamb of God, the Christ, the Messiah, our Savior - is savagely nailed to a rugged wooden cross. It is Good Friday.

“Easter Moments -- Words of Wisdom” by Joan Garrett

March 29, 2024 - As the month of March ends, the last day (March 31) will be Easter Day this year. In most cases it is now called Resurrection Day with many activities leading up to it to celebrate. I have always known it as Easter Egg Day. The eggs are purchased, boiled, colored, and hidden for kids and sometimes many adults helping to find them. I laugh when several eggs cannot be found because the person who hides the eggs forgets where they are. Adults participate especially if the golden egg has money inside.

My Five Cents: Maternal Medicaid, Health Centers Grant, SFA President, Lamar SCO, Opioid Overdoses

March 28, 2024 - For the first time since 1878, Texans will see their first total solar eclipse next month. Total solar eclipses are rare because the sun, the moon, and the Earth must align such that the moon moves in between the sun and the Earth. Only people who are within the path of totality will be able to see the full effects of the eclipse. The path of totality encompasses a large swath of Texas including the DFW metroplex, Tyler, Austin and the Hill Country, and Del Rio. The eclipse will happen on April 8.

David's Daily Devotion for March 27

March 27, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, March 27.

We continue today with our week-long series that looks at what Jesus was doing each day of that first Holy Week.

Wednesday saw Jesus and His disciples back in Bethany, a couple of miles east of Jerusalem, near the Mount of Olives. It would be a day of dramatic contrasts. A day with an inspiring act of worship and a disturbing act of betrayal.

Women’s History Month - Solute to All Women Teachers

March 27, 2024 - March has been full of advertisements for National Women’s History Month. What does that mean? It means that this is the month of the year that women who have made history around the world are recognized and celebrated. It is observed annually in the U. S. since the late 80s. Having started as a week of celebration for women, women in communities, school districts, and organizations desired an expansion to an entire month. The month of March eventually became a designated month of celebration.
