October 29, 2015 - A scholarship has been established through the Joaquin Alumni Association in memory of Adam Matthews, Alan Shaw, and Brad Wiggins.
It is being funded by donations collected for the Joaquin Railroad Crossing Light fund which was originally established to pay for the installation of warning lights at the railroad crossing in Joaquin after their accident in 2002. The railroad company installed lights and crossing gates at their expense, so the donations collected were not needed for that purpose.
October 20, 2015 - Joaquin FFA participated in two East Texas livestock events, the East Texas State Fair in Tyler, Texas and the East Texas Show Star Series in Nacogdoches, Texas. In Tyler, Trey Harvey won Grand Champion Red Angus and won his class with each of his four heifers.
October 16, 2015 - The Joaquin ISD Cross Country team participated at the District Meet in New Summerfield on Wednesday, October 14th. Carlos Galan and Day'za Lane, both members of the High School team, advanced to the Regional Meet. Carlos placed 3rd and Day'za placed 6th. They will compete at the Regional Meet in Huntsville on October 26th.
Gifted and Talented student nominations will begin Monday, October 19, 2015, and end Friday, October 30, 2015. If you would like to nominate your child, a nomination application will be sent home for you to complete and return. October 8, 2015 - We are writing to let everyone know that there will be a combined 4-H monthly meeting for the month of October. All three clubs, Center, Joaquin, and Shelbyville will have their meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, Felllowship Hall at 6:00PM in Center Texas.
We will be having a guest speaker at this meeting. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. We think that it will be a very informative meeting.
The Ram Run or Dye has been rescheduled for November 14, 2015, at 10 A.M. We have been keeping a close watch on the weather for the past several days. It is predicted to be severe thunderstorms for Saturday morning. Safety is the most important thing, so we have made the decision to reschedule the event.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope that you are able to make it out November 14th - weather permitting. The Joaquin Class of 2016 is looking forward to seeing all of our runners and having a great time.
September 17, 2015 - Due to track maintenance the Joaquin ISD Track at the Hwy. 7 Baseball/Softball Complex is closed for the remainder of the day, Thursday, September 17, 2015. No one is to walk on the track or practice inside the track area today. Normal activities will resume tomorrow.
