Joaquin Rams Stadium, Friday, August 30, 2019 –

The Joaquin Rams Varsity football team defeated the visiting Deweyville Pirates by a 61-0 score. The Rams held a 42-0 lead at the midway break and scored 19 unanswered points in the second half.

The Rams will travel to Ore City next Friday, September 6, 2019 for a 7:30 p.m. game with the Rebels. Ore City beat Maud High School 26-6 on the road Friday.

August 27, 2019 - The JV Dragon football team will play in Groveton on Thursday, August 29 at 5pm.

August 27, 2019 - Mandatory Parent/Guardian meeting will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at 6 PM in the CMS Library. Please make plans to attend.

7th Grade Practice- 6:45am – 8:15am
8th Grade Practice 4:00pm- 5:30pm

August 27, 2019 –

Pre-season practices and scrimmages are over for our local teams and Friday will mark the beginning of the 2019 football season.

The Center Roughriders will open up the regular football season with a trip to Tatum. The ‘Riders face the Eagles at Tatum’s Eagles Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019.

The ‘Rider’s will be coached by new Head Football Coach Scott Ponder. Their District 9 4A contests will begin on October 11 when they host Tarkington. Other District 9 opponents are: Shepard, Huntington, and Jasper. Center went 6-5 last season and reached the bi-district level of the UIL Football Playoffs.

The Joaquin Rams are coached by Wade Lawson and will start the season next Friday when they host the Deweyville Pirates. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at Rams Stadium.

Joaquin went 9-3 last season and reached the regional semifinal round of the UIL Football Playoffs. The Rams will begin District 11-2A competition on September 27 when they host the Garrison Bulldogs. Other District 11 opponents include Linden-Kildare, Timpson, Beckville, Tenaha, and Harleton.

The Shelbyville Dragons are coached by David Benbow. They were 5-6 and bi-district finalist last season.

The Dragons begin regular season play this Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Beckville Bearcats at home. Shelbyville will start District 12 play on October 11 when they face Deweyville. Other conference foes will be West Sabine, Hull-Daisetta, Groveton, and San Augustine.

The Tenaha Tigers will open up their season next Friday at Troup. The Game will be at Troup High School at 7:30 p.m. Tenaha went 10-4 last season and lost in the Regional Finals to the San Augustine Wolves.

The Tigers are coached by first-year Head Coach Robert Tamplin. Tenaha will begin District 11 2A competition on September 27 at Timpson. Other District 11 opponents are Garrison, Joaquin, Beckville, Linden-Kildare, and Harleton.

The Timpson Bears are coached by Kerry Therwhanger. The Bears went 4-7 last season and reached the bi-district playoffs. They start the season facing the Hemphill Hornets at Hemphill next Friday at 7 :30 p.m. They start District 11 2A action on September 27 against Tenaha.

August 26, 2019 - The Center Roughrider football season is underway! The 9th grade and junior varsity teams will host the Tatum Eagles on Thursday, August 29th at 5pm and at 7pm. The Varisty team will travel to Tatum to face the Eagles on Friday, August 30th. Game time is 7:30pm. To see the 2019 Composite Football Schedule, click here.

The Tenaha Tigers Varsity Football Team wrapped up their 2019 preseason with a scrimmage with New Diana High School. The Tigers will begin pre-district play with a regular season game at Troup High School next Friday, August 30, 2019. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

The Shelbyville Dragons faced off with Warren High School on Thursday for the last preseason scrimmage. The Dragons will begin regular season play next Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they kickoff non-district play with the Beckville Bearcats at Dragons Stadium.

August 23, 2019 - Jason Mitchell, National Director for Dixie Youth Baseball, presented a plaque to Jarrmez Daniels, member of the AAA WS team from Center, for having the best batting average during the WS. 

Jarrmez went 8 for 13 at the plate for a .615 batting average for the tournament. This is the first time that Center has had any player named the batting champion for the series. 

Congratulations goes out to Jarrmez for his hard work and determination.
