October 1, 2019 - Shelbyville Jr High and JV Football games will be at Elysian Fields, October 1st. Jr High game starts at 5pm and JV game will follow.

The Shelbyville Dragons varsity offense started slow in Thursday’s non-district game with Shepherd High School. The Dragon’s first two drives only netted them a total of five yards.

The Shepherd Pirates gained the first lead of the game when they capped a 9-play scoring drive, which covered 35 yards, with a 2-yard touchdown drive by Dezmon Yates with 9:09 minutes left in the second quarter. This score held up for the remainder of the first half of play.

The Dragons held the Pirates to just one first down in the opening drive of the third stanza. Shepherd punted the ball to Shelbyville where they took over with under 8 minutes left. 

AJ Cartwright got the Shelbyville crowd on their feet with an electrifying touchdown run which covered the 96 yards needed for the Dragons first score of the game. The extra point kick failed and Shelbyville trailed only 6-7.

The final score of the contest came on another Cartwright scoring run with 10:04 minutes left in the contest. This time he went in from 4 yards out. Jaylon Brinson added a 2-point conversion which gave the Dragons a 14-7 margin in the winning effort.

Shelbyville carried the football 40 times for 206 yards. They completed four passes on five attempts for 44 yards. They gained seven first downs and lost one fumble and gave up an interception.

The Pirates carried 25 times for 121 yards. They went 3/15 passing for 55 yards and gained seven first downs. They were intercepted once.

The Dragons will enjoy a Bye week and then they will face the Deweyville Pirates, at Deweyville Pirates Stadium on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 7 p.m.

September 26, 2019 - Tenaha ISD has released the 2020 Tenaha Baseball Schedule. The Tigers will start off the season facing off against the Shelbyville Dragons.

Tuesday, September 24, 2079 –

All Five Shelby County varsity football teams will each have games this week. Center and Shelbyville will be finishing their non-conference games while the three remaining county teams will be facing their first district foes during the regular season.

The Roughriders fell in a tough road battle at Henderson last week which saw the Lions walk away with a 63-7 win. Center now stands at 1-3 for the season and will try to get back in the win column with a win over the Grace Community Cougars who are 3-1 this season. Grace Community won at home over Wills Point last week by a 42-17 score. Kickoff is on Friday, September 27, 2019, at Roughriders Stadium, at 7:30 p.m.

The Joaquin Rams are back in the win column after a hard-fought 16-14 road win over the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs. The Rams are now 3-1 and they open up District 11 2-A play at home against the Garrison Bulldogs on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Garrison is 1-2 and are on a 2-game losing streak after falling to Alto and San Augustine.

  

Shelbyville is 3-1 this season and they beat First Baptist Academy last Friday by a 68-0 margin. They will host Shepard High School on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 7 p.m. The Shepard Pirates are 1-2 and lost to Orangefield by a 27-21 score.

The Tenaha Tigers suffered a lopsided 67-14 loss on the road to the San Augustine Wolves last week. The Tigers are now 3-1 and they will regroup and head across Shelby County to face the Timpson Bears on Friday, at Timpson. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. The Bears won at West Sabine High School by a 14-6 score last week. Their season record stands at 2-2 and they are on a 2-game winning streak.

 

 

Henderson Lions Stadium, Friday, September 20, 2019 –

The Center Roughriders Varsity football team saw their record fall to 1-3 after their third straight loss on Friday. The ‘Riders only trailed 7-0 after the end of the first quarter but saw things get away as they trailed 35-7 at halftime, 56-7 at the end of three periods, and they eventually saw Henderson’s lead balloon to 63-7 by the end of the contest. This was Center’s third straight pre-district loss.

Both teams had turnovers in the opening frame which kept the game close in the early going. Henderson lead 14-0 early in the second but Center came back to answer and they pulled to within a touchdown of the Lions. Henderson would shutout Center for the rest of the contest and score the final 49 points scored.

The Roughriders will regroup as they will host Grace Community at Roughriders Stadium next Friday, September 27, 2019. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

September 18, 2019 - The Shelbyville Dragons JV football team will play at home on Thursday, September 19 at 5pm against Hemphill. The Jr High game is to follow at 6:30 pm versus Huntington.

September 18, 2019 -

The Center Roughriders football team fell to 1-2 overall last week after a 48-28 loss at home to the Gladewater Bears. This week the ‘Riders will head to Henderson High School for their fourth non-district game with the Lions. The Game is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Lions Stadium. Henderson is 2-1 and won on the road at Jacksonville by a 67-40 score.

The Joaquin Rams fell in a narrow 22-21 loss to Shelbyville at JHS last Friday. The Rams are 2-1 this season and travel to Corrigan-Camden to face the Bulldogs, Friday at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs are 3-0 after beating Kirbyville 32-8 at home. The Shelbyville Dragons are now 2-1 after the win over the Rams and they will next face the First Baptist Academy from Dallas at Troup High School. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

The Tenaha Tigers are 3-0 this season after an impressive 54-0 win at home over Thomas K Gorman High School. The Tigers face 2-0 San Augustine at Wolves Stadium at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Last year these two teams faced off for the quarterfinal playoffs and San Augustine won 43-17. San Augustine beat Garrison at Bulldogs Stadium 36-28.

The Timpson Bears broke into the win column last week with a 43-31 win at home over the Big Sandy Wildcats. Timpson is now 1-2 on the season. The Bears will travel to West Sabine High School on Friday for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff with the Tigers.
