November 4, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, November 4.

“Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

October 31, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, October 31.

A holiday like Halloween isn’t an easy focus for a daily column on spiritual matters, so I’ll focus instead on the holiday that comes tomorrow - All Saints Day. I grew up Baptist and we never acknowledged that special day, but most denominations do, and millions of Christians do. It’s a day to acknowledge those who’ve gone before us, and the bond we share with them.

October 27, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, October 27.

Since we’re in the middle of the World Series right now, here’s a bit of baseball history. On October 27, 1985, the New York Yankees fired their manager, Billy Martin. Coaches get fired all the time, that’s not news. But that was the fourth time that the Yankees had fired Martin. Four times! And that wasn’t even the last time. Three years later, they hired him again, and then, of course, fired him again. Crazy huh?

October 23, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, October 23.

On this day, in 1978, Mother Maybelle went to heaven. Maybelle Carter was born in 1909 in Nickelsville, Virginia (population 327). At the tender age of 18 she formed the legendary Carter Family Trio with her brother-in-law A.P. and her cousin Sara. June Carter was her daughter and Johnny Cash her son-in-law. It was all about family with Maybelle. And she is considered to be the “Mother” of country music.
