March 13, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, March 13.
This Sunday I’ll be attending the 85th anniversary of my home church in Houston - Faith Memorial Baptist. It’s the church where I grew up, where my dad was pastor, where my mom was organist, where I had my first ministry job. Looking forward to seeing a lot of old friends and catching up. It should be a great time of fellowship.

Happy Birthday to hymn writer Robert Lowry, born on this day in 1826 - Happy 200th Birthday! Lowry was a renowned American preacher and pastor. He was also a professor and a publisher. He considered hymn writing just a hobby. But in spite of all his other noteworthy achievements, it is his gospel songs for which he is remembered.

Are you a gardener? I must admit that I am not. Do you have a “green thumb”? Mine’s black! If you have a potted plant that you’ve grown tired of caring for, just give it to me, and I guarantee that within a few days, it will surely be dead. I have great admiration for those who have a talent for making things grow. And I have great appreciation of gardens.

March 3, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, March 3. The old saying is “April showers bring May flowers”, but, here in Texas, we’re always ahead of the game. March is one of our rainiest months. The forecasts say we’re in for a wet weekend, it could be “raining cats and dogs”. That phrase, as I’m sure you know, is an idiom - a set of words peculiar to a particular language, words not to be taken literally, but as metaphor and cultural tradition.
March 2, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Monday, March 2. Welcome to my favorite month! March has St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of Spring, and this year it features Palm Sunday. Ok, it also has the bad time change - the one where we lose an hour of sleep - but no month is perfect. March, at least here in Texas, brings wildflowers and hummingbirds and warm breezes. And, speaking of Texas, March also brings Independence Day - today!
