David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 24

February 24, 2022 - Good Morning!  It's Thursday, February 24.

On February 24, 1909, a new business was started. It was called the Hudson Motor Car Company. It was very successful. At its' peak it was a close third to Ford and Chevy.  Millions of people around the world drove Hudson cars.

So, seen many Hudson's on the road lately? Ever seen a Hudson? Probably not, since they went out of business close to seventy years ago! Success is fleeting. Here today, gone tomorrow.

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 23

February 23, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Wednesday, February 23.

Quick! What’s the last word in the Bible? Did you guess “amen”? That’s right! In Revelation 22:21 the apostle John writes, “The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you all. Amen.” How appropriate that the Bible ends with that word, since, in the Bible, it is most often used at the end of prayers and proclamations of praise. It's the same way you and I use it today. "So be it!" "It is true!"

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 22

February 22, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, February 22.

Yesterday - on President's Day - we looked at the religious affiliations of our chief executives. We found that all but three were officially connected to some denomination, to some church. These three included Andrew Johnson, Thomas Jefferson, and, surprisingly, Abraham Lincoln. I say surprisingly, because no other president, no other politician for that matter, has so powerfully used the Bible in their speeches, as did Lincoln.

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 19

February 19, 20222 - Good Morning! It’s Saturday, February 19.

Part of the training that goes into becoming a Navy pilot involves learning what to do . . . when you crash. Often, it's been found, when a plane crash lands into water, that the pilot loses all sense of what's up and what's down – and may actually be swimming toward the bottom instead of the surface. The trainers teach a surefire solution – blow out a little air and follow the bubbles – they always go to the top!

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 18

February 18, 2022 - Good Afternoon!  It’s Friday, February 18.

On February 18, 1986, a commercial was broadcast featuring the actor Yul Brynner, who spoke about the dangers of smoking.  Why was this big news?  Because Brynner had died four months earlier - from lung cancer.  It was a message from the grave, and it made a powerful impression.

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 17

February 17, 2022 - Good Morning! It's Thursday, February 17.

"Nothing is Impossible" is one of my favorite old-time gospel songs. It was inspired by Matthew 19:26 - "with God all things are possible." I was thinking about that song and that verse, and was reminded of a humorous quote by the writer, A. A. Milne - "They say that nothing is impossible, but I do nothing everyday."

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 16

February 16, 2022 - Good Morning!  It's Wednesday, February 16.

This weekend, the youth from our church are going away to a camp nearby for a retreat. Forty-eight hours of fun and food and fellowship. A couple of days to listen to God's voice and reconnect with Him. A retreat. But that word "retreat" sometimes brings up negative impressions - "Never give up! Never back down!! Never retreat!!!" But in reality, the opportunity to take time away from our busy, cluttered lives to go to a quiet place and relax, recharge, restore, renew - is definitely a positive thing!

David’s Daily Devotion for Feb. 15

February 15, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, February 15.

Isaac Newton, in the 17th century, was a mathematician, physicist, inventor, astronomer, theologian, author, and scientist. He created the field of calculus, invented the reflecting telescope, developed the laws of motion and gravity. These “laws” were the dominant scientific discoveries for three centuries, until Einstein’s theory of relativity in 1905. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest geniuses who has ever lived.
