David’s Daily Devotion for July 7

July 7, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Friday, July 7.

Do you remember "Show & Tell" Day from your childhood? It was usually Friday, and you could bring something special to school. You'd get up in front of your class (like the teacher!) and SHOW it off and TELL about it. I don't know if they still do that, but I hope they do.  It was fun!

David's Daily Devotion for July 5

July 5, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, July 5.

On this day, 37 years ago, a memorable moment occurred in New York City. The remembrance of that event serves as an appropriate postscript to yesterday's patriotic holiday. On July 5, 1986, the Statue of Liberty reopened to the public after a two-year, 40 million-dollar renovation.

David's Daily Devotion for June 30

June 30, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Friday, June 30.

A couple of times in my life, I've had the blessing of being an ESL teacher, English as a Second Language. My students were adults who had immigrated to the United States. I had great admiration for them, as I watched how hard they worked to give their families, their children, a better life in America. And I was inspired as I watched them work hard to learn English, a difficult language - and sometimes a crazy language!

David's Daily Devotion for June 28

June 28, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Wednesday, June 28.

Last week's Sunday School lesson was about Queen Esther and her adopted father, Mordecai. I encourage you to read through the Book of Esther this week - it's one of the most dramatic and inspiring stories in the Bible. They've made movies about it! And this short book, just 10 chapters, contains one of the most memorable verses in the Word of God. Esther 4:14 ends with this statement - "Perhaps you have come to royal position for such a time as this".

David's Daily Devotion for June 27

June 27, 2023 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, June 27.

Our focus today is on a man named James Smithson. Never heard of him? Ok, he was born in Paris in 1765 and made his fortune as a chemist. Still not ringing any bells? Alright - this should do it - Smithson, an Englishman, died on June 27, 1829, and left all his money to the United States to create an institute of education, an institute that bears his name, the Smithsonian.
