May 17, 2023 - Following an executive session of the Shelby County Commissioners during their special meeting held May 17, 2023, the commissioners decided to appoint Margaret Dee Dee Green to Justice of the Peace Precinct 4.

After an hour long executive session, a motion carried to appoint Margaret Dee Dee Green as the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 for the remainder of this current term. That position will take effect on July 1, 2023.
May 17, 2023 - The following article includes details from several meetings during April and May of the Shelby County Commissioners Court. At times, some issues addressed were covered in multiple meetings.
Just previous to the opening of the April 19, 2023 meeting of Commissioners Court, Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison opened bids received for the Precinct 3 Barn, which included two separate bids from Donnie Fountain, and one bid from Cornerstone Construction.

May 16, 2023 - Three members of the Tenaha City council were sworn in at a special called meeting held Monday, May 15, 2023, at Tenaha City Hall at 5:50pm.
May 15, 2023 - Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on FM 711 approximately 1.3 miles from State Highway 7 on Thursday, May 11, 2023.

May 8, 2023 - U.S. Highway 96 South was the scene of a two-vehicle non-injury collision involving a pickup truck and a truck tractor Monday, May 8, 2023, just south of FM 2140.
May 9, 2023 - Emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on FM 417 just east of Shelbyville on May 8, 2023, where a pickup truck had collided with a tree.
Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department was on scene to assist as well as Shelbyville ISD Police Chief Jud Matthews.
