Women's Reading Club Visits Texas Country Music Hall of Fame

April 13, 2015 - Center's Women's Reading Club recently enjoyed a special program hosted by the Carthage Book Club at the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame in Carthage. Co- authors Lana Higginbotham and Mary Felder shared the genesis of their book, Between the Letters, the beautiful biographical account of Charles and Mary Felder's romance and life together from their chance meeting during World War II until Charles's death in 2001.

What’s New at the Library

May 22, 2015 - We received our first boxes of new books bought by the Friends of the Library spring book sale proceeds. It is always like Christmas morning when we open the boxes. For those of you who wait for the dog days of summer to read, we are now well stocked. There is a good selection of mysteries, light fiction and some great romance reading for the beach. For children, Sandra selected some new series for both boys and girls. We also received the new David McCullough novel, The Wright Brothers. He tells the story of Wilbur and Orville Wright.

Winners Announced ~ Easter Metal Art Decorating Contest

April 10, 2015 - In April, db Metal Art and The Little Fox Marketplace sponsored an Easter Metal Art Decorating Contest. Participants creatively decorated metal crosses and eggs. Each was a unique work of art. The public was invited to choose their favorite. Everyone who voted was entered into a drawing for a store gift certificate which was won by Venorah McSwain. Winners were announced at an Open House/Reception on March 31st. Each winner received a store gift certificate.

Judge Harbison Proclaims April "Confederate History and Heritage Month"

April 8, 2015 - Members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #282 and Texas Society Order of the Confederate Rose, Roses of the Attoyac #60, gathered in Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison's office on Monday, April 6, 2015 as she signed a proclamation designating April 2015 as "Confederate History and Heritage Month."
