December 9, 2022 - In the late 1960s, our family lived in Houston, Texas. It was about a three-and-a-half drive north to our parent’s home in San Augustine. Christmastime was always a hectic time for all of us. My parents lived about twenty miles away from my wife’s parents. We, therefore, had to share time with both sets of grandparents when we would make the drive up north.

December 9, 2022 - The Texas Department of State Health Services has ordered a recall of all oysters harvested in the TX 1 area of southeastern Galveston Bay after reports of a few dozen cases of gastrointestinal illness among people who ate oysters from those waters. The recall includes oysters in the shell and shucked oysters harvested in the area from Nov. 17 through Dec. 7.

December 8, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, December 8.

There are some Christmas songs that really don't have anything to do with Christmas. "Jingle Bells" doesn't mention gifts or Santa or Rudolph - it's just a song about winter fun - but what would Christmas be without it! "Joy to the World" isn't inspired by Luke Chapter Two, it's based on the 98th Psalm - but what would Christmas be without it! This morning we look at a song that we sing all year round, but that most people don't realize is a Christmas song.

December 6, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, December 6.

The Wise Men, the Magi, are only mentioned in the 2nd chapter of Matthew. The verse, perhaps, that sums up who they were and what they did is Matthew 2:11 -

When they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshipped him; and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
