December 1, 2022 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, December 1.

The upcoming community holiday event at First Baptist Center, called “Journey to Bethlehem”, will feature a number of points of light. The guest groups will follow a path lit by hundreds of small flickering candles. The stable will be illuminated by old-fashioned oil lamps.  And the Angel will be holding a single candle.

I think I’ve found the perfect job. I want to work for The Weather Channel as a forecaster. But I would specialize in “long-range” forecasts - at least ten days in the future. Why would this be the perfect job? Because no one really expects these forecasts to be very accurate. And by the time that future day arrives, you’ve forgotten what the prediction even was. The perfect job.

TxDMV Announces Upcoming Deployment of Redesigned Temporary Tags

Enhanced security and data enhancements would further reduce fraudulent tag use

November 23, 2022 - Texas temporary tags are getting a major design overhaul. The Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is introducing a new look for tags that are issued by licensed Texas motor vehicle dealers. This is the next step in ongoing efforts that have made a significant difference in curtailing and preventing the fraudulent production of, access to, and use of temporary tags.

Sheriff's Department Thanks Local Business for Assistance

November 23, 2022 - The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office requested the pond where the body of Inga Lout was found be drained oin Friday, November 4, 2022. Jamie Hagler, Constable Precinct 2, made contact with Lenny Dupuis, supervisor of Chi Omni Environmental Solution in Center, and within one hour, Dupuis had equipment on scene. Chi Omni provided lighting, pumpers, a vacuum truck, skilled drivers, equipment operators, and other needed materials to drain the pond. Chi Omni stayed on location for a total of three days providing their services free of charge to the county.

Texas Game Warden Search and Rescue Drone Program Yields Positive Outcomes Across the State

November 22, 2022 – Three recent incidents requiring game warden drone support and successful coordination with local law enforcement led to an arrest in east Texas and two rescues of lost individuals in the hill country.

On the night of Nov. 3, Texas Game Warden Michael Hummert responded to an Erath County Sheriff’s Office request for assistance. An elderly man had gone missing in Dublin, Texas. As the only law enforcement officer equipped with a thermal drone in the county, his services were necessary.
